Midway establishes German office

Publisher tags country as "key territory"; German editions of Shadow Hearts: Covenant, NARC, and Area 51 are under way.

Midway Games has opened a new subsidiary, Midway Games GmbH, in Munich, Germany. The new office will handle Midway's sales, marketing, and distribution in Germany under the direction of newly appointed leader Uwe Fuerstenberg. Midway Games GmbH's first release will be Shadow Hearts: Covenant, due out March 11 for the PlayStation 2. In the first half of 2005, Midway will also launch German editions of Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict for the Xbox, NARC (PS2, Xbox), and Area 51 (PS2, Xbox). Midway chiefs have identified Germany as a "key territory" for the company, which also has offices in San Diego, Seattle, Austin, Los Angeles, and London, and is headquartered in Chicago.
