Microsoft's Xbox One games will be $60

Xbox maker confirms its titles will be sold for current-generation standard; other publishers have yet to discuss pricing.

Microsoft's Xbox One games will retail for $60, the same price as Xbox 360 titles, the publisher has confirmed.

No Caption Provided

This pricing will put Xbox One games level with PlayStation 4 titles, as PlayStation executive Jack Tretton said in February that PS4 titles will max out at $60.

Other publishers--like Activision, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft--have yet to disclose pricing information for their next-generation games.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter in March predicted that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 titles would follow the previous generation in jumping by $10 from $60 to $70.

The Xbox One ($500) and PS4 ($400) launch later this year.

@GSGuy321 PS4 has it better since not only games will most likely be the same price, I can use my Vita to play every single one of them and I own the physical releases.

@Hop103 @GSGuy321 plus you know for the PS4 that you OWN the games and can play it, lend it, sell it freely, unlike MS were you are limited on everything

@NoAngle @freedom01 Ok, I said that I'll let you be but just to clarify you, I KNOW that you are NOT correct, and I;m just stopping the conversation first because its just a loop and Im getting tired of speaking with you. So you think what you think and I think what I think.

@freedom01 @NoAngle i understand, that is what most people do when they're about to lose an argument, they start switching subjects and then they go personal.

whether i created my account 30 years ago or 30 seconds ago is irrelevant, what i said is correct and you know that. and i know that you know that and that is what counts for me.

but if you must know, i had an account on GS since 2005, i did not access that account for several years and i do not even have access to the email addrr associated with it so i created a new one.

@NoAngle @freedom01 I just noticed how unnecessary it is to explain to you. You just created your account in Jun 13, 2013. and from all the forums those that usually created their account from June 10+ are mostly trying to praise the new system, so I'll just stop explaining to you, its just pointless, since your;re trying to stay positive about it, I'll just let you be.

@freedom01 I do not know and neither do you.

MS is not trying to control anything, you can STILL give AWAY your physical COPY ALL YOU WANT, what part of that you did not understand?

MS is giving you and OPTION NOT to DO that, if you do not like online sharing DONT USE THE DANG THING and stop complaining about options.

@freedom01 @NoAngle your switching subjects which is a sign that you are just trying to complain in general. i can't possibly do anything about that.

we were talking about sharing not kinnect and connectivity.

but if you must, MS already explained how kinnect works, and you can turn that feature off. Kinnect is now part of the console, like the controller. what kinnect does is up to the owner.

Always being connected is also part of the model, you need to look at the whole picture.

@NoAngle @freedom01 So you even know why most gamers are complaining? ITS BECAUSE MS IS TRYING TO CONTROL HOW YOU HANDLE YOUR GAMES. and why gamer praise Sony right now? ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CHANING THE WAY WE GAME AND KEEPING IT THE WAY WE LIKE.

sometimes not changing is a good thing, and the change MS is doing is not something we are happy about

@NoAngle @freedom01 Yeah...."XO model is better and more sophisticated model, it is an EXTRA OPTION not a limitation."

you say that not being able to play offline, always has to be connected, only able to sell your games to certain retail shops, kinetic ALWAYS has to be connected, is an extra option? all I see is that MS is trying to control you on what you can do with your games

@freedom01 so now you are just trying to complain.... you are blaiming MS about stuff they did not announce yet? :)

and praising the PS4 for nothing new, the PS4 model is not new, nothing has changed...

@freedom01 so what the are you complaining about? if they are the same like you just said ;D

but they are not the same, with XO you can share the game with 10 people who can access the game WITHOUT having to KNOCK at your door and get the PHYSICAL copy.

if you still fee the need to share your physical copy, then you can still do it.

XO model is better and more sophisticated model, it is an EXTRA OPTION not a limitation.

Oh but wait the PS4 ALLOWS you to even play the multiplayer online when you are borrowing, unlike X-1 where they are still even unsure if you can.

@NoAngle @Fryboy101 @freedom01 Ok, let me remember what Major Nelson said on that interview, he said while one person plays a game another person CANNOT play the same game, it is like a library, when one is checked out, the other has to wait. And he also said on the shared games only SINGLE player games are playable, multiplayer is still in question. Sharing is same thing with PS4 only ONE at a TIME,

@Fryboy101 @NoAngle @freedom01 ok, explain to me how many people can you share your PS4 game with?

you can share an XO game with 10 people without the need to physically giving them your physical copy to be scratched. but you can still give it away if for some wacko reason you feel the need to...

@freedom01@Fryboy101

Sony is not doing ANYTHING, while MS is allowing you to share your game with 10 people. SONY will only let you share your physical copy of the game. if you want to share your PS4 game with someone, you'll have to give him the disc.

allowing is not equal limiting. you can still give/lend you physical copy of an XO game, but it is unnecessary since you can just grant him/her access which is more civilized and easier and you will not have to replace a scratched disc anymore.

@Fryboy101 @NoAngle @freedom01 exactly what Fryboy said, what MS is doing completely opposite of Sony, MS restricts you, while Sony doesnt, so if your gonna protect your so called "read the official", YOU should read it more carefully and understand, since I read their official and listened to their Interviews and know what Im talking about

@NoAngle @freedom01 have you been paying attention? what XO is doing is nowhere near the same as what PS4 is doing. you can hand out your game freely on the PS4, but with the one, you have to be online during the check or you can't play it, it's only with a select number of people you can let play, and those people require an hourly check or else they can't play it either, and when you trade your game to someone else that isn't in that select group, you can't get it back to play it. I really don't know how that's the same as what Sony is doing with the PS4. Maybe it's you who should be doing some reading on "official stuff" and stop listening to stupid rumors

The price is alright, the problem is you don't have ownership to your game anymore like the previous gen. In this case it's useless to even buy the disc and rather just get it digitally instead since both would need to be install on the hard drive anyways. Then again considering the competitors doesn't had this problem, Microsoft can just go jump on a cliff.

When you consider that you can share the games digitally with up to 10 'family' members with two playing at the same time (that's according to the official ms website), you could go halves on a game with a mate and only end up paying $30/£20. Xbox One fans unite! goo.gl/R7VUe

@Grondiggy ah...no. you cannot have 2 people playing the same game at once on the Family Plan. Look at the interview that Angry Joe did with Major Nelson. @Rayzakk Piracy is such an excuse to further their agenda.

Those people would never purchase the game anyway.

DRM only hurts legitimate buyers. DRM actually furthers piracy.

I am glad to hear it. I get that games cost more to make, but the additional revenue needs to come from bigger market, not higher price. Keep making products at higher and higher cost for fewer and fewer customers is a dead end. Personally, though, I would accept $70 next gen games on account of inflation.
