Microsoft's Xbox One games will be $60

Well, that's one fear put to bed..for now anyway.

Why not make it for the 360 also it will be a good move and make the Xbox fans happy.Not everyone has 500$ for the new consoles.

$60 and $70 sounds cheap for New Game Releases in Australian Dollars, though I recon it would be around $100+ like @shuffles88 has stated for a reasonable price

This is key to the success of Microsofts online nanny state. If the DRM restrictions allows for Steam type sales on the Digital marketplace then all of this pre-release DRM hoopla will be forgiven. However if the price drops are non-existent and year old games are still $40-$50 online, or worse yet still $60 online, then it will just be business as usual and nothing will be gained.

Personally I think it could go either way. Consoles could start following the Steam model or they could still be selling digital copies at higher prices then local retail stores.

As long as they don't go above $59.99 I will be fine. That's already a good amount of cash for a college kid.

But will the games be any better?

Will the games be better tested eliminating bugs, glitches & errors?

Hang on a minute, they say its going to be the same as todays generation in price, but why, on every website are they £54.99. Surely they should stay the same at £40?

Well well well. I said before. The only positive I could see of these new implements MS have thrusted into the console world, the only thing that could turn it into a small positive would be if they slashed the price of their games, but nope.

PS will match you MS and thing is, when people make that regular mistake of buying a game with no replay value they will be able to receive $40 for it on ebay without jumping through hoops and hurdles.

In all honesty, that's pretty good considering, if you think about the MASSIVE complexity in games these days. The main problem is all the DLC etc, but most games are pretty good value for money.

That said, it's still a very expensive hobby!

Yeah, that's the price I expected for the next gen: $60 for half of a game. The other half you have to buy through lots of DLCs for $10+ each. Sad generation >.<

I used to be so happy when I bought my games (full content), put them in my console and that's all. \o/

I remember a gamespot user defending the XBox One policies by claiming that games will cost probably $30-$40. Still wanna back that up?

And I have YET to see proof, of games costing $60. In England, Xbone games COST £50! ARE YOU ****ING INSANE?! That would mean games in the USA, would cost $80.

Sony have OFFICIALLY said they're games will cap at their current cost, which is $60/£40. Of which, I have no reason to doubt given such with circumstances at the moment.

So what happened to their whole "Online fee for used games mean we can be cheaper with new games" bullshit?

If $60 is the (non-collectors edition) *ceiling* price then that's not too bad, considering game prices have been creeping up over the last couple of generations.

Single licensed games should be in the 29.99 range or less... I'm not really willing to pay $60.00 for digital content yet.

Surely games should be cheaper considering games can no longer be transferred ad hoc ... Even steam has prices ~10 -20% lower, and crazy 50%+ off sales.

So the games will stay at $60 in the US and their going up by £10 in the UK to £55? (just checked Amazon) i'll not be happy if games go up in price in the UK and don't in the US.

I doubt this pricing strategy very highly. Amazon.de is already pricing PS4 games in Germany for 100 Euros!!! I will be shocked to see any games being priced below that for the first 8 months of launch.

But who knows? This is an opportunity for Microsoft to stick it to Sony. If Microsoft can get the pricing right on its games and under cut SOny that will definitely turn the tabels for them seeing as a console is only as good as its games and accessibility to them.

This is why i will only be getting exclusive games for console gaming
