Microsoft Is Expecting Huge Xbox One Sales This Holiday--Here's Why

Don't see it as a big deal mainly because Xbox One is such an under powered console. Who wants to invest in a console that can barely play AAA games at 30 fps. The PS4 is no better.

This backwards compatibility is pretty lame once you look into it. The Xbox One won't even play the 360 games off the disc. You have to download them.

That's a hassle. I'd rather just buy a 360 for it's back catalog.

This is a very short-term strategy..... people can only thade their old systems once. Just trying to make the holiday numbers look not as bad as they would otherwise be. I hate microsoft for many reason..... it's fun to watch them scramble frantically this whole gen.

Sure there were a lot of people who went from 360 to PS4 but I could see a lot of those people selling the PS4 and going back to MS. Especially when they see what X1 has this Xmas and all the cool stuiff Sony shown wasn't even close to coming out. You can always wait till next E3 to see most of the games Sony showed at E3.

This has a lot to do with the fact that 40% of PlayStation 4 owners did not own a PS3 - they were previously 360 and/or Wii owners. In other words, Microsoft are trying their hardest to retain customers of the brand. They're doing things right in that department. They should close the gap a bit in the US, but worldwide Sony already has things wrapped. For example, 700,000 PS4 unites have sold through in Spain - a 9:1 ratio in Sony's favor (roughly 78,000 Xbox One's have been sold in that country). The numbers aren't that drastically different everywhere else aside from the UK, US, and Canada.

I wouldn't say they're reaching on this statement; once word gets around that it does play 360 titles (internet required or not), people will hop over.

This was a very smart strategy by Microsoft, and is also a huge haymaker punch to Xbox 360 Owners. This is a very nice and gentle way of saying, "get rid of your old 360 and pick up an Xbox One, because we're on the brink of not supporting that old piece of junk anymore."

A "massive migration" already occurred when millions of 360 owners switched over to the PS4 :-p

yea lol good luck with that. Rise of the Tomb Raider is gonna get crushed by Fallout 4. Halo 5 won't win awards cause Witcher 3 and MGS V are around and they have no silver bullet left for next year

These comments make me sick. A bunch of dumb fanboys shaking their junk at each other because "their" console of preference is better in some way shape or form. WHO FRIGGIN CARES??? Why do you have to put down someone else's preference? They're GAMES. Stop spending your time bragging about why company X or Y is doomed to fail or why they're so much better and GO PLAY GAMES.

Yea it is. Me my brother and friend just got rid of the 360s this week and took advantage of the Best Buy deal. Already had PS4s but Microsoft gave us a reason to finally get an XB1. And we were all Gears players. Had to get on that beta.
