Microsoft Has "No Information" About Bringing Anything Except Minecraft to Wii U

This comes after Microsoft talked about Rare Replay on Wii U.

Writing on Twitter this weekend, Microsoft confirmed it has nothing to announce regarding any of its games outside of Minecraft coming to Wii U.

This comes after a tweet from the Microsoft Studios account suggested that the company might be open to the idea of bringing Xbox One's Rare Replay to Nintendo's console.

No Caption Provided

"We appreciate all your suggestions!" Microsoft said. "However, we have no information of any games coming to the Wii U other than Minecraft at this time."

As for the initial tweet that started all of this, here's what happened. On December 7, someone asked if, in addition to Minecraft, Microsoft might bring Rare Replay to Wii U. Microsoft responded by saying anyone who's interested in that should take it up with the Microsoft-owned UK developer Rare.

No Caption Provided

This led some to believe Microsoft was open to the idea of Rare Replay one day coming to Wii U. Interestingly, Microsoft's statement ends by saying it has nothing to announce "at this time," which leaves open the possibility of some announcement being made down the road.

Minecraft for Wii U launches on December 17. Microsoft acquired the Minecraft franchise and developer Mojang in 2014 for the price of $2.5 billion.

Would you like to see Rare Replay or another Microsoft game come to Wii U? Let us know in the comments below.

The only Microsoft game(s) I would love to see come to Wii U is any game made by Rare (like Rare Replay for instance).

Maybe a Rare replay Wii U edition without the MS Xbox and Xbox 360 games. Nintendo could offer Donkey Kong Country games? in "trade"

wow, MS bringing games to Wii U could be interesting... how about the other way around? maybe Donkey Kong Country gets a remake by Rare on the X1?? interchanging some franchises?!

since wii U is not a direct competitor, they should unite forces

@Ahiru-San Now you are talking. Clearly MS is wiling to talk to Nintendo. Because MS didn't have to bring Minecraft over , but they did. Doing some interchanging franchise trades would be a great and smart move. :

Ms is opening some very uncommon doors. Could they be testing the waters of going publisher only?? I doubt it, but it does seem they are trying a new business approach. I personally just want them to bring all there stuff to PC and if other platforms benefit thats great. I sold my Xbox One, so MS bringing their games to PC will be the only way I can play them. Hoping for Gears, Crackdown , and Quantum Break the most. Seriously doubt Halo PC will ever happen again. Not anytime soon anyways.

I can't really see MS giving their competition anything, especially with how Nintendo has been very stingy with giving their competition any of their titles. It would be great to see MS and Nintendo come up with some type of agreement on sharing titles with each other, as a way of sticking it to Sony.. but again I doubt that would ever happen.. Nintendo struggles with the Wii U for sure, but they made bank on the Wii last gen, and the U is just a slightly upgraded console that probably cost them next to nothing.. They pretty much make back their money on the system with 1 game purchase..

@OrgeLambart: Both Headquarters are pretty much down the street from each other . So MS and Nintendo are clearly talking about ...something. There was no real reason why MS brought over Minecraft to the Wii U , but they did. I can some Rare Replay coming to the Wii U , in exchange for Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong Racing .

@sladakrobot: Sorry if I am a idiot and read your post wrong but what 360 games are on the Rare replay as far as I know the only Rare games on there where games that where on the Nes and 64 and I am sure the Wii U can handle 360 games

@j12456788: There are Kameo,Viva Pinata 1+2,Perfect Dark Zero so far i am aware.

Nothing to do with WiiU couldnt run these games but the WiiU cant emulate the X360...means these games must be ported and i dont see Rare investing time on that.

This is a start of a relationship between Nintendo and Microsoft.. You can expect some Nintendo games to land on the Xbox One soon after. Yet another smart and sneaky move by Microsoft..

@vinnievic86: lol.. you really think Nintendo who have been the least likely to let their products come out on competitors systems would finally release some games on MS system... you have a better chance of Sony and MS coming together and making one console next gen..

Minecraft is only coming out because MS is most likely contractually obligated to release the game on the Wii U.. They bought they studio but would still have to honor contracts if they were signed prior to MS being legal owner of Mojong. Which explains the continued support for the PS title and the game coming out on the Wii U..

Anything else is ... lol... yeah no..

@LPDisturbedHU: M$ owners only care about sci fi/military shooters and non-racing games. The only reason why you don't know that is because the media gives M$ a free pass because their hardware has good graphic.

@black_attack: Microsoft owners? You mean the heads of Microsoft? Or do you mean Xbox owners?

Either way you're wrong. Rare Replay topped sales charts, Ori and the Blind Forest was profitable in it's first week, and plenty of other games have been released and done well on the Xbox platform.

I think it would be a good move for ms and Nintendo to argee to games like did kong racing that could not be included in rare replay that Nintendo allow them to be download into xbox one rare replay in return for a wii u version. Think that would be beneficial for both sides. I have both xbox one and wii u and will be buying rare replay weather it happens or not

Rare Replay on Wii U? Well considering six of the games are Xbox 360 games... literally.... they were not even ported to Xbox One they just used Backwards Compatibility... (complete and utter laziness on their part) ...It will never happen.

I would honestly prefer it if Nintendo just partnered with Xbox to make games on their platform (X1 and Win10). I absolutely LOVE Nintendo games and all their franchises. I own and even collect their games, I just haven't truly liked a single console or controller they have come out with. I think Nintendo could design high quality peripherals in partnership with Xbox if they wanted some hardware sales.

@obsidian_born:

Games based on peripherals though rarely do well and it wouldn't encourage other developers to make use of those either because you're essentially asking them to purposefully limit the audience of their game.

Microsoft brought Mech Assault and Age of Empires to the DS, let a bunch of Rare games come out on the GBA and DS, and at least contemplated porting Halo to it as well... so if it doesn't come to the Wii U, I suspect there is at least a chance something could come to the 3DS.
