Micro Star Restructures

Company "eliminates dead weight" by cutting from development staff, but also increases sales positions and gets a new CEO.

Comments

Micro Star has restructured its operations to reduce costs. According to Micro Star's executive vice president of sales and marketing, Terry Schevker, this involved reducing the nine representation firms the company worked with to one, and eliminating the vice president of sales who managed those relationships. In addition, seven jobs were cut from sales, marketing, and development departments at Micro Star, but 35 people were also hired - including CEO Duke Bushong.

The net result means an increased direct sales staff but a decreased number of development folk. Schvecker said that the layoffs on the development side were a matter of "eliminating dead weight," getting rid of workers who, he said, "frankly couldn't get a product done."

Currently, the company best known for unauthorized add-ons is focusing on releasing two products: Modern Fighters, an add-on for the Microsoft Flight Simulator due approximately May 28, and Haunted Casino, a standalone game described as "a series of casino games with a plot." Haunted Casino is due the first week of June.
