Mew And Mewtwo Are Headed To Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Soon

Finally, brand-Mew Pokemon.

Comments

The August Pokemon Presents livestream had several announcements for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and for fans of the classic pocket monster games, the good news is that you'll soon be able to add Mew and Mewtwo to your collection.

As announced during the livestream, Mew is now available as a Mystery Gift Pokemon. Simply head into the menu of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, enter the code GETY0URMEW (with the number "0" instead of the letter "O") in the Mystery Gift section, and the 151st Pokemon will be yours to keep. You'll have until September 18 to claim Mew, which just so happens to be the day that The Teal Mask DLC launches on.

Now Playing: Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet | Get Mew and Mewtwo!

For anyone looking to get Mew's dark clone Mewtwo, you'll need to earn that powerful Psychic-type Pokemon in a Tera Raid battle. The Pokemon Company added that if Mew is in your party, something "special" will happen in that encounter. It's not clear yet what level this Tera Raid battle will be at, but with Mewtwo having a Mightiest Mark attribute, something which is usually seen in 7-star Raids, expect it to be maxed out at level 100 and ready for a fight.

To get you ready for the main event, The Pokemon Company will hold additional Tera Raid battles to help prepare you. Wave 1 of these battles will be held from August 9-17 and Wave 2 will take place August 18-31. Winning these Tera Raids will reward you with powerful items that you can use to raise a Pokemon for a duel with Mewtwo, who'll be ready to battle from September 1-17. There's still time to get an excellent Dark-type Tera Charizard, which is available until August 31.

Other announcements from the Pokemon Presents livestream included several updates on the many Pokemon mobile games, a new trailer for Detective Pikachu Returns, and confirmation that Nintendo Switch Online is getting two classic Pokemon games this week.
