4A Games and Deep Silver have announced that they have sold more than 1.5 million Metro Redux games worldwide, which includes Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. Both are remastered versions of the last-generation games for current-generation systems and PC.

No Caption Provided

In addition, Deep Silver says that the Metro Redux bundle for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has now outsold Metro: Last Light for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in "multiple territories." This is an "unprecedented feat" for a remastered game (and there have been quite a few), Deep Silver says.

"When measured against sales of the previous generation release, Metro Redux is the best performing remaster of this generation," Deep Silver claims.

Sales numbers of other recent remasters, including The Last of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, have not been announced.

Deep Silver has also announced that it's released Mac versions of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on Steam. These new versions were developed by 4A Games and use OpenGL 4 to offer up "one of the most technically advanced games to appear natively on the Mac platform."

You can buy the games today on Steam, which are available until April 17 at 50 percent off. If you already bought a copy of any Steam version of Metro Redux, you'll also receive a copy of the new Mac edition at no extra charge.

"We are thrilled with the performance of Metro Redux," Deep Silver executive Menno Van der Bil said. "4A Games have created one of the benchmarks by which other re-masters will be judged, and we have seen their efforts rewarded with fantastic critical and commercial success. Metro Redux has introduced many new fans to the series, and we look forward to reaching a whole new audience on Mac."

The Metro series is based on the Metro 2033 novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

Nice to see it doing well. I was holding off from playing the series since Metro 2033 skipped PS3 and I didn't want to start the series with the second game. Now I can play it from the beginning.

Still no reason to buy a next gen console confirmed. This gen is so disappointing when it comes to a graphics jump.

@vegasdog: your last line conveys both ignorance and just plain absurdity... one could rightly infer that what you said was that the game play or art direction or any other facet of this gen games are superior but you dont like that you see some jaggies or theres just not enough lens flare for you. i mean who cares if games are better or look better they just dont look good enough... for 400 us dollars.

@leviathanwing@vegasdog: You're post is absurd. Generation after generation the consoles have made an amazing leap in graphics, not so this time around. This is the weakest jump in history and that my little young and naive fanBOY is a fact. Take that fact and shove it with your ignorant fanBOY propaganda. SOny will do just fine without your idiotic propaganda. These consoles are nothing but old pc parts another fact you might want to include in your deluded fantasy life.

@raptor1998@deth420: they really cleaned up some things with 2033 but last light was just prettier... it was always the better game overall anyways.

Still cant forgive Deep Silver for treating Sacred 2 on consoles badly(little to no support, badly needed patches never released) and ruining Sacred 3.

Also, little to no support for console versions of Risen 2

@sladakrobot: Don't take out your publisher frustrations on a game entirely developed without their input... this is 4A Games' product and only recently has Deep Silver become a business partner of theirs.

Sweet, glad people are buying it up! I don't think I'll try the Redux version though, as I already own the originals. Awesome games though, definitely up there as far as SP FPS games go, very atmospheric with an interesting story, great action and setting, and some gorgeous graphics to top it off!

Played Last light on PS3 and enjoyed it, so when I saw the games bundled on PS4 I decided to give it a go. Glad I did, 2033 Redux was ridiculously good, fun horrifying, immersive and challenging. Made me enjoy Last Light Redux even more than when I played it last gen. Glad sales were good, hopefully that means that they are working on a third entry cause I would buy it!

Never played a Metro game until Last Light Redux. First time I've been challenged with a game in quite some time and it not feel cheap. (Of course I haven't played Bloodborne or any of the demon's souls games yet either.)

Great game

@bernard978: Last Light Redux was basically Last Light with higher resolution. Only 2033 changed that much because it was quite old and it was optimised terribly.

@Dannystaples14@bernard978: The only real problem I ever had with 2033 was the fact that screenshots etc never worked with the broken dx10 and dx11 rendering options.

As for optimisation, well I owned the game years after release and played it with a gtx 560 so I probably missed that at the time.

Metro 2 was really good, I liked it a lot. I have never finished Metro 1 though. It was clunky to play, shooting mechanism was weird. Cant wait for next Metro game ohhhh yeah.

@Karmazyn: Metro 2033 pretty much needed the Redux treatment.

It actually makes it playable and significantly less clunky than before.

@cejay0813@DanielL5583@Karmazyn: You mean needing to put on a gas mask outside, and keep the filters changed? It always had that.

@Mogan@cejay0813@DanielL5583@Karmazyn: Yes. That's what I found frustrating when it came to the difficulty curve. Started out on hard and was stuck at the swamp level looking for the church because I kept running out of air.

@cejay0813: It shouldn't be hard to keep air supplies in check if you go at least some mild exploration. I think the biggest problem is that it's easy to replace a filter that's still relatively full (you just gotta tap T or something for PC), but if you swap it out for a new one then you can't use it again... effectively throwing away up to 4-5 ,minutes of oxygen! If you avoid this easy-to-make mistake then you should be a lot better off.

It can also be a pain when you find yourself in situations like you describe where you start a big area with low supplies and so it kind of just becomes a trial and error escape plan from there. Sometimes might be better to go back a chapter if you're really stretching supplies thin.

@nl_skipper@cejay0813: True. Yeah I made it through that section by essentially remembering where all the air supplies were. I was still running out by the time I got to the boss and actually got through it in time...
