4A Games and Deep Silver have announced that they have sold more than 1.5 million Metro Redux games worldwide, which includes Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. Both are remastered versions of the last-generation games for current-generation systems and PC.

In addition, Deep Silver says that the Metro Redux bundle for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has now outsold Metro: Last Light for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in "multiple territories." This is an "unprecedented feat" for a remastered game (and there have been quite a few), Deep Silver says.

"When measured against sales of the previous generation release, Metro Redux is the best performing remaster of this generation," Deep Silver claims.

Sales numbers of other recent remasters, including The Last of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, have not been announced.

Deep Silver has also announced that it's released Mac versions of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on Steam. These new versions were developed by 4A Games and use OpenGL 4 to offer up "one of the most technically advanced games to appear natively on the Mac platform."

You can buy the games today on Steam, which are available until April 17 at 50 percent off. If you already bought a copy of any Steam version of Metro Redux, you'll also receive a copy of the new Mac edition at no extra charge.

"We are thrilled with the performance of Metro Redux," Deep Silver executive Menno Van der Bil said. "4A Games have created one of the benchmarks by which other re-masters will be judged, and we have seen their efforts rewarded with fantastic critical and commercial success. Metro Redux has introduced many new fans to the series, and we look forward to reaching a whole new audience on Mac."

The Metro series is based on the Metro 2033 novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

Nice to see it doing well. I was holding off from playing the series since Metro 2033 skipped PS3 and I didn't want to start the series with the second game. Now I can play it from the beginning.

These are truly great games. FPS done right in my opinion. Metro Redux deserves to sell millions of copies.

Seeing great games sell well makes me a happy adult male.

The Metro franchise deserves a lot more attention than other FPS like CoD..

Avatar image for ninjaroach81

@raptor1998: A lot of franchises deserve more attention than CoD...

Avatar image for rapanbub

@ninjaroach81@raptor1998: Then Metro deserves an enormous amount of more attention than CoD!

Still no reason to buy a next gen console confirmed. This gen is so disappointing when it comes to a graphics jump.

Avatar image for leviathanwing

@vegasdog: your last line conveys both ignorance and just plain absurdity... one could rightly infer that what you said was that the game play or art direction or any other facet of this gen games are superior but you dont like that you see some jaggies or theres just not enough lens flare for you. i mean who cares if games are better or look better they just dont look good enough... for 400 us dollars.

Avatar image for vegasdog

@leviathanwing@vegasdog: You're post is absurd. Generation after generation the consoles have made an amazing leap in graphics, not so this time around. This is the weakest jump in history and that my little young and naive fanBOY is a fact. Take that fact and shove it with your ignorant fanBOY propaganda. SOny will do just fine without your idiotic propaganda. These consoles are nothing but old pc parts another fact you might want to include in your deluded fantasy life.

Avatar image for CieloPerso

Worth it. It's a great pair of games. I was glad to finally play 2033.

Avatar image for deth420

sweet, with sales like that im sure we will see more games remade a year later....keep up the good work.

lets all go to gamestop and buy some dlc

Avatar image for rapanbub

@deth420: Metro Redux made big changes. It's much more than a simple copy&paste with nicer graphics.

Avatar image for leviathanwing

@raptor1998@deth420: they really cleaned up some things with 2033 but last light was just prettier... it was always the better game overall anyways.

Avatar image for Reagan2791

I'm tempted after reading the comments below. The bundle is on sale on Xbox One for around $30.

Avatar image for ninjaroach81

@Reagan2791: $24.75, to be exact; picked it up last night. Glad I didn't play either one on the X360!

Avatar image for leviathanwing

@ninjaroach81@Reagan2791: especially 2033... damn chimps cramping my style.

Still cant forgive Deep Silver for treating Sacred 2 on consoles badly(little to no support, badly needed patches never released) and ruining Sacred 3.

Also, little to no support for console versions of Risen 2
Avatar image for nl_skipper

@sladakrobot: Don't take out your publisher frustrations on a game entirely developed without their input... this is 4A Games' product and only recently has Deep Silver become a business partner of theirs.

Avatar image for sladakrobot

@nl_skipper: I shoved my love for 4A and Metro many times...shame you missed these posts

Sweet, glad people are buying it up! I don't think I'll try the Redux version though, as I already own the originals. Awesome games though, definitely up there as far as SP FPS games go, very atmospheric with an interesting story, great action and setting, and some gorgeous graphics to top it off!

Such a great game. Bought it for $25 on Black Friday for the XB1 and I'll tell you it's worth full price, Will be pre-buying the next one.

Avatar image for pharoe777

Such a great game, I really enjoyed playing it.

Avatar image for bwb42487

Played Last light on PS3 and enjoyed it, so when I saw the games bundled on PS4 I decided to give it a go. Glad I did, 2033 Redux was ridiculously good, fun horrifying, immersive and challenging. Made me enjoy Last Light Redux even more than when I played it last gen. Glad sales were good, hopefully that means that they are working on a third entry cause I would buy it!

Good for them, more money to fund next game.

Never played a Metro game until Last Light Redux. First time I've been challenged with a game in quite some time and it not feel cheap. (Of course I haven't played Bloodborne or any of the demon's souls games yet either.)

Great game

Avatar image for alexanian

@cejay0813: last light is the sequel. May want to play 2033 to put things into perspective

Avatar image for cejay0813

@alexanian@cejay0813: Yes I know but I heard better things about Last Light so I went with it first. I'll probably by the first one when they have a price drop.

Avatar image for DrDuncs

Like the sale with gold this week :)

Avatar image for davillain-

I never played Metro in my life but I didn't know there was a remasterd. Congrats I guess.

Avatar image for DarkLight748

Best game ever.

Avatar image for deactivated-5a803cda1fb41

Does the Last Light redux not look as stupid as the original?

Avatar image for deactivated-58270bc086e0d

@bernard978: Last Light Redux was basically Last Light with higher resolution. Only 2033 changed that much because it was quite old and it was optimised terribly.

Avatar image for deactivated-5a803cda1fb41

@Dannystaples14@bernard978: The only real problem I ever had with 2033 was the fact that screenshots etc never worked with the broken dx10 and dx11 rendering options.

As for optimisation, well I owned the game years after release and played it with a gtx 560 so I probably missed that at the time.

Avatar image for BabeNewelll

Gz to them

Avatar image for alaannn

so the remaster outsold the original game, hopefully we get more remasters now id like saints row 2 from this pub, also elder scrolls and fallout

Avatar image for Karmazyn

Metro 2 was really good, I liked it a lot. I have never finished Metro 1 though. It was clunky to play, shooting mechanism was weird. Cant wait for next Metro game ohhhh yeah.

Avatar image for DanielL5583

@Karmazyn: Metro 2033 pretty much needed the Redux treatment.

It actually makes it playable and significantly less clunky than before.

Avatar image for cejay0813

@DanielL5583@Karmazyn: Does 2033 have this whole oxygen mask system in place as well?

Avatar image for Mogan

@cejay0813@DanielL5583@Karmazyn: You mean needing to put on a gas mask outside, and keep the filters changed? It always had that.

Avatar image for cejay0813

@Mogan@cejay0813@DanielL5583@Karmazyn: Yes. That's what I found frustrating when it came to the difficulty curve. Started out on hard and was stuck at the swamp level looking for the church because I kept running out of air.

Avatar image for nl_skipper

@cejay0813: It shouldn't be hard to keep air supplies in check if you go at least some mild exploration. I think the biggest problem is that it's easy to replace a filter that's still relatively full (you just gotta tap T or something for PC), but if you swap it out for a new one then you can't use it again... effectively throwing away up to 4-5 ,minutes of oxygen! If you avoid this easy-to-make mistake then you should be a lot better off.

It can also be a pain when you find yourself in situations like you describe where you start a big area with low supplies and so it kind of just becomes a trial and error escape plan from there. Sometimes might be better to go back a chapter if you're really stretching supplies thin.

Avatar image for cejay0813

@nl_skipper@cejay0813: True. Yeah I made it through that section by essentially remembering where all the air supplies were. I was still running out by the time I got to the boss and actually got through it in time...

Avatar image for Subterfuge71

@Karmazyn: I also gave up on Metro 2033 because of the same things you mentioned. Metro: Last Light was a lot nicer to play.
