Metro: Last Light Wii U canceled early on
THQ rep says "some work" was done on Wii U version of upcoming shooter, but decision to cancel the game was made "fairly early on."
"Our look at the Wii U extended to a very early look at some very early kits. We… we did some work on it, but we made a decision fairly early on that we weren’t going to commit further resource to it," Benyon said. "So yeah, we didn’t go too far."
Benyon also addressed the rumor that Metro: Last Light was scuttled for Wii U due to the system's "horrible, slow CPU." He said this was not the case.
"Take any of the comments you’ve seen attributed with a pinch of salt," Benyon said. "It’s certainly not been based on any kind of analysis of final hardware."
Metro: Last Light, which is published by THQ, was initially shown on a Wii U sizzle reel during the console's unveiling at E3 2011. It later also appeared in a leaked Blockbuster Wii U database listing.
Metro: Last Light is slated for release in early 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
