Ignition Entertainment today announced that it has acquired the European publishing rights to both Metal Slug Advance for the Game Boy Advance and Metal Slug 3 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The SNK-developed titles are both currently scheduled for release in Europe in October.

"Metal Slug games have garnered a massive following among arcade lovers and importers alike. The home versions include all the enjoyment and fast-paced action of the arcade original--plus some great additional features," said Peter Rollinson, product manager at Ignition Entertainment. "And with the simultaneous release of Metal Slug Advance--which we strongly believe will be one of the greatest games to grace the Nintendo handheld--this is great news for games players. We're all massive fans of the Metal Slug games at Ignition and are excited to have secured these titles. The Metal Slug series has remained the hardcore gamers' best-kept secret. We are looking forward to sharing it with the masses."

The Xbox version of Metal Slug 3, with Live support, has been available in North America since May. The PS2 version of Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug Advance for the GBA are currently scheduled for release in North America in September and August, respectively.
