Metal Gear Survive Is Already Available For Less Than $20

If you were waiting for a sale to buy it, now's the time.

Well, that didn't take long. Metal Gear Survive came out in late February for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Despite it being less than a month and a half old, the game is currently on sale on Amazon for more than half off. You can buy it on PlayStation 4 for $18 or on Xbox One for $19. Note that most other retailers are still selling it for the suggested retail price of $40.

Metal Gear Survive is a Konami game, but not a Kojima one. After series creator Hideo Kojima and Konami split ways in 2015, fans wondered if they'd ever see a new Metal Gear game again. As it turns out, we would, at least in spin-off form. First came a Pachinko machine (with an impressive trailer), and then came Metal Gear Survive.

Metal Gear Survive takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. You play as a member of Snake's army who gets sucked through a wormhole to find yourself in a harsh alternate reality filled with crazed zombie-like creatures. Here, health, hunger, and thirst become your immediate concerns as you venture out into the unknown in search of resources to stay alive.

The reviews for Metal Gear Survive, including ours, were middling, but most reviewers found things to praise. Despite it being more demanding and obtuse than GameSpot reviewer Tamoor Hussain would have liked, he noted, "There's actually a good survival game in there." So if you're a Metal Gear diehard, or are simply interested in trying out a new survival game, snagging Metal Gear Survive on sale is the way to do it.

I'd rather use that $20 for a lap dance from a hooker.

I'd sooner set $20 on fire than spend it on this game. At least the burning money would provide momentary warmth.

To play that game you need to be paid, not pay for it.

Don't know about you haters but I have played it for 80 hours and it was a good game, maybe not the best survival game of all time but a pretty good game for what it was supposed to be in the first place: A spin off Metal Gear game which Konami always made between the release of the main Metal Gear games.(Ghost Babel,VR missions,Twin Snakes,Acid 1,2,PO,Rising)

Is it worth to buy ? personally I recommend buying it when Konami adds more content to this game. Even as a fan it's hard to play this game after 80 hours.

@dorog1995: It's not hating if it's warranted. Even without the history, it's still an MT laden game with some clunky design.

@Barighm: MTs aren't necessary and are much better than the MTs in Phantom Pain.(FOB insurances for example)

I mean why would you want to buy a second character when you can change your sub class any time that you want ?

Amazon's probably pissed they have millions of copies of a game that nobody wants.

@Vodoo: Some bean counter probably hasn't been paying attention and thought Konami was still a AAA game publisher, and ordered WAYYYYY too many copies.

Dont be fooled by this price tag. You will still have to play a lot of money on microtransactions for your gameplay to be smoother. And dont forget: Do not support Konami anymore! They f***ed with us All 3 years ago!

Even if you got it for free, you'd still waste time on it, and you can't get that back.

Just to clarify, it's not really about the fact Kojima was canned. More like Konami deserving a swift kick in the butt for what is clearly a cash-in on unused assets using one of the most offensive forms of gaming out there (the GaaS'y model) instead of just properly finishing MGS5.

What they should have done was endeavoured to deliver a complete MGS5 or an awesome follow-up. Then we'd be all like "What do we need Kojima for?", Konami would redeem themselves, and everyone would be happy.

People saying comments like "that's too much" or "that's $20 too high" are completely absurd and bias...

This game is clearly $9,999,999,999,999 too high even with the new price.

;)

Kojima aside, the metal gear name alone won't sell the game if it is bland and not fun.
