Way back in July of 2007, Konami North American and European operations head Kazumi Kitaue suggested that the PlayStation 3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 might have to go multiplatform. Late last year, Konami confirmed that would indeed happen--sort of--with news of Metal Gear Solid Touch for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch systems.
Gamers can now see exactly how Solid Snake's final outing made the transition to the multipurpose portable. Metal Gear Solid Touch has gone live on Apple's App Store with an asking price of $7.99. Developed by Kojima Productions, Metal Gear Solid Touch features many of the same locations and characters of its PS3 counterpart in 20 levels of action-oriented gameplay.
Players can flick the screen left or right to move Snake, tap to fire weapons, or "pinch" the screen to zoom in and out with the sniper rifle. In addition to following Snake on his last mission, players will earn Drebin points that they can spend to unlock dozens of iPhone wallpapers.
