More information about the promotion, including full redemption instructions, is available here. Of course, you can't play The Phantom Pain until its release everywhere in September.

Previously, Nvidia was offering free copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight with its latest graphics cards.

The Phantom Pain release date for PC is set for September 15, two weeks after the game launches for consoles.

In other recent news about The Phantom Pain, series creator Hideo Kojima has shared a "final" poster for the game, which shows the game's main characters dripping in blood.

Yeah let's buy a 350 DOllar 960 when 280x costs about 300 , and buy the game seperatly.

How abou that?

I hate the two week wait but for the ultimate edition of the game, it's worth staying off the internet for two weeks. Might take a vacation to the Bahamas for two weeks, it's cheaper in September anyways :P

This will probably come out before those stupid Batman patches do.

And with also comes with infamous un-optimized shitty hairworks and physx

@Creed02: Ground zeros was also nvidia sponsored, and it was easily the ultimate version of the game.

Avatar image for Creed02

@Gamer_4_Fun: yeah .. as for batman is being poorly optimized ofcourse with the help of physx and paper make it more difficult thanks to nvidia .. the msg v will be better fated than this

Avatar image for Cryio

@Creed02: No hairworks and no Physx in MGSV, dafuq.

@Cryio: dude .. wait and see until game releases .. you dont know its NVIDIA

@Creed02: No, seriously, there is no GameWorks tech in MGSV.

@Creed02: PhysX is pretty rad, but yeah, hairworks is not worth the massive framerate drop.

The last game that came bundled with an Nvidia GPU was Batman: Arkham Knight...

Sweet, I was planning on getting a 970 soon anyway.

@Dark_Wr4ith: sadly its a 3.5 gig card but still good option .. i would have prefer a 390 which comes with 8 gig and play game with VSR enabled

@Dark_Wr4ith: The 390X AND 390 are better cards.

hah no. There are more to GPU than raw performance, like not pushing out 450+ watts on the gpu alone.

@Gamer_4_Fun: Yeah, and not having to ghetto-rig it to keep it running well consistently...

Heat spreads, reducing life span, making the room uncomfortably hot and finally kicking in the thermal throttling and reducing performance.

Such confliction, been trying to hold off on upgrading my GPU as I really don't need a new one just yet, though this deal almost forces my hand.

Well guess I'll grab the 980ti now...was thinking about waiting for pascal but this will sway my mind.

If they launch a 950ti and make this game free with it, I'll bite!

I need a card that requires no power cable like the 750ti.

@Tiwill44: haha, ok. Well where have I been lol!?

Wow, so that's two titles (the other one being No Man's Sky) I thought were PS exclusives.

And to think I almost bought a PS4!

Avatar image for TheFrow

@mrbojangles25: It's weird you though it was a PS4 exclusive since it has only shown up at Microsoft conferences at E3 lol

Avatar image for Tiwill44
Tiwill44

@mrbojangles25: Heh, well... it wouldn't have been a PS4 exclusive either way, since it's coming to Xbox One too.

Uh, apparently it's even coming out on PS3 and X360 too. I completely forgot about that. I do remember seeing comparison screenshots a while ago.

Avatar image for auberonfall

@Tiwill44: PS4/XB1/PC versions will have 8v8 online multiplayer. XB360/PS3 versions will only have 6v6.

@Tiwill44: blargh. A year ago me would have known this. I think I am losing my taste for video games, slowly but surely :(

Ah well, had to happen sooner or later.

Avatar image for Tiwill44
Tiwill44

@mrbojangles25: Eh, to be fair, they didn't make it very clear. Especially No Man's Sky. I'm pretty sure most people still think that's a PS4 exclusive, just because they keep showing it during Sony's E3.

Some people even thought Destiny was a PS4 exclusive because of that. I guess that's the power of good marketing...

Regardless I'm still buying the PS4 version and I always play Metal Gear Solid games on a PlayStation consoles so with that, what a great way to end MGS series on a PS4.

Did they ever fix the 3.5GB cap issue on the 4GB GTX 970s?

Avatar image for Jebril
Jebril

@Tiwill44: It's been stressed so many times in many videos it's been shown that the VRAM issue is pretty much insignificant at 1080p. That's not to say I don't agree with what NVIDIA did, they should've been more honest about everything I still would've bought the card regardless because at the time nothing even touched it in terms of price to performance.

Avatar image for Tiwill44
Tiwill44

@Jebril: "pretty much insignificant" is still significant... Besides, it's been quite some time since it came out, I'm sure something will come out in the next few months that'll replace it. I just don't want to feel buyer's remorse, y'know?

Avatar image for Jebril
Jebril

@Tiwill44: Buyer's remorse is pretty much a given whenever you buy a graphics card lol

Avatar image for reaperfifth
ReaperFifth

@Tiwill44: No

Avatar image for Tiwill44
Tiwill44

@reaperfifth: I'd buy a 980 Ti, but I kinda don't want to pay over 800 bucks for a new GPU, and 8GB is overkill. But if I get a 970 now, I know I'll end up regretting it.

You'd think they would have made a 970 Ti or a 960 Ti by now, but nope... And I don't really want to go with AMD, so I'm kinda stuck with my 560 Ti (1GB).

It's still fine for most of the games I play, but not the most recent stuff. So I'm not in a rush, but I will be soon.

Avatar image for Cryio
Cryio

@Tiwill44: Just buy an R9 390. 8 GBs of VRAM and it's as fast if not slightly faster than a 970. And you won't regret in the long term when the 970 will no longer cope with games because its lack of VRAM.

Avatar image for reaperfifth
ReaperFifth

@Tiwill44: I very much agree with the your thoughts on the 970. I am hoping they will drop the price of the standard 980 to around $400. That would give it value when compared to a 970 which is being beaten in benchmarks and price point by AMD's 390.
