The release of Street Fighter IV saw the iconic franchise get a long-awaited rejuvenation, and along with it came the revival of the competitive fighting game scene. Earlier this year the team at OzHadou hosted the Southeast Asian leg of the EVO 2010 fighting tournament in Sydney. Now, another Australian city is playing host to a major brawl-a-thon.

Kicking off on October 2 for two days, the annual BAM (Battle Arena Melbourne) fighting tournament is being hosted by Couch Warriors. The main competition of the show will revolve around Super Street Fighter IV, but other fighting games like Tekken 6, BlazBlue, and more will also be in contention.

The good news is that video game publishers have gotten behind the event, so trophies and cash prizes will be up for grabs. If you're keen on checking it out, you can find out all the details over at the official BAM 2010 page. Also be sure to check out the official poster for the event--the design is a particularly awesome pseudo Street Fighter/UFC promotional design.
