Now Playing: GS News Update: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Confirmed

Mega Man fans are getting a treat this summer. Ahead of this year's E3, Capcom has confirmed the rumors, and announced it is releasing Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. The anthology will bring together Mega Man 7, 8, 9, and 10 in one game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this August. Check out the trailer below.

"This collection spans the evolution--and retro revolution--of the classic side-scrolling series," said Capcom. The first Mega Man Legacy Collection, released in 2015, focused on the series' NES 8-bit roots, bringing Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 to modern consoles. That collection did not remaster or remake any of the games.

The new collection makes the jump to 16 and 32 bits, and will also include bonus content and extra challenges not found in the original games. It promises to help new players "get into the game" easier with the Extra Armor feature, which reduces damage taken by half, and will also create convenient checkpoint saves so it's easier to pick up your adventure where you left off.

Capcom's new collection will also include a new Challenge Mode, which remixes stages and lets you compete against others on online leaderboards. If you're a really big fan, the Museum feature returns featuring an archive of production art, sketches, development material, and a full music player with favorite tracks from the game.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 comes out August 8 and will cost US $20 both digitally and at retail locations. Capcom is promising to show off the game at E3, and we'll report back on our full E3 coverage right here.

All I want is a sequal to Megaman X Command Mission, or at least another Megaman RPG game like it. Also, we already have the Megaman Anniversary Collection, and the Megaman X Collection, on the Gamecube and PS2, so I guess this new collection is mainly just to get 9 and 10, and maybe to have the games on a newer console? Also, not including Megaman & Bass is lame. Not releasing the collection on Switch is also super lame, considering the first 6 games in the series were all on the NES, and there are a lot of old Nintendo fans who are fans of the series like myself. But the lamest thing of all, is that you're splitting all of this up in multiple releases even though all the games would fit just fine on one, single Megaman collection disc. You've really fallen Capcom...It's a really long time ago now, but you used to be cool once...

I don't understand why xbox is getting megaman when there is no legacy with megaman on xbox period. this should be going to switch. waste of time on xbox.

cool, can we get an HD remake of Megaman Legends 1 and 2 (can you throw in The Misadventures of Tron Bonne too)?

Doesn't make any sense that this isn't coming out on Switch... same crap is already happening again for Nintendo.

the only game that really interests me in this list is 8. it hasnt been long enough since i last played 9 and 10 to warrant purchasing it again in collection form. i also was never a huge fan of 7. it was a good filler for its time between 6 and 8 but other than that, as a standalone megaman game, it fairs poorly imo. but, depending on the price, i wouldnt mind playing 8 again and earn some trophies/achievements while doing so.

Can we get the superior Saturn version of MM8 for the collection this time? Thanks.

@spooie: cant remember if the x games were in any collection yet in this gen. what, did they use the ps1 version of x4 instead of the better saturn version? i understand that 5 and 6 didnt get a saturn version but still, they should choose the best versions of each respective title that theyve ever produced in collections like these.

@KimCheeWarriorX:

No, the last X collection was on PS2 and GCN.

For the PS2/GCN/Xbox MMAC collections, they used the Playstation version of MegaMan 8, which was actually missing stages with Cutman and Woodman that never made it over from the Saturn version. This, and the Saturn version had additional in-game features, and supposedly it just played better on the Saturn, being that Sega's system had better architecture for building and playing 2D games.

So a physical version of 9 and 10? Nice.

$20 is way too much for this.

@Redblaze27: since 8 is really the only game im interested in, in this collection, yes, $20 is a bit steep. i might reconsider if it goes on sale for half the price or less in the future.

I hope it's for 3DS with a gold MM amiibo.

Mega Man: Snowflake Edition confirmed.

@arkybr: "Get into the game". Wow they really do spoon feed the kids these days.

The first time I played Mega Man I was 5 years old. It was Mega Man 4 so it was a bit easier but I got the older ones and beat them all by the time I was 7 or 8.

Are people incapable of just learning a game these days?

And yes, Snowflake Edition indeed xD

I would rather have a sequel to Star Force, Legend, ZX, or X.

To think, Capcom could've improved on Anniversary Collection.

Look no further on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection and Rare Replay on how to do a modern compilation folks.

If it ain't X or Legends, I'm not interested.

Let me know when Capcom is ready to do all Megaman: Battle Network collection.

I'm more of a Megaman X fan then the originals versions myself so this collection doesn't do it for me.

@davillain-: same here, though I do enjoy Megaman 7, 8, Megaman and Bass I'm not a fan of the NES style

And the X series was definitely my favorite, followng with Legends, Zero, ZX, Battle Network, and Star Force

Can't we just have an ACTUAL new Mega Man game?

@baron_machina: A new Megaman Game? Didn't you guys get Mighty No. 9? The spiritual successor to Megaman games?

@davillain-: I am a hardcore Mega Man fan I loved every game from the og to the X series. Nes days were magical and fucking frustrating lol mighty number 9 is a disgrace and the creator should be ashamed of himself for that POS. So sad that the blue bomber doesn't get a proper sequel of some sort.

@davillain-: My apologies, I'll rephrase:

Can we get a GOOD new Mega Man game?

You've been able to play these games on emulators for close to two decades now. Why would anyone care about these collections?

Megaman 9 & 10 are pretty new

Now that those are all out of the way, where is my Legends collection, containing Megaman Legends 1 and 2 and Misadventures of Tronne Bonne? They are all available now as PS1 Classics on the PS3, so they should have no problem porting them into a PS4 collection like this.

Capcom did two new games this gen and rest remasters. Where us Res 2 remake we all waiting for it. Plus why no switch vision of collection it can run in switch.

Really surprised that Megaman & Bass isn't on there. Would've figured they'd at least make the attempt to put more Megaman games into this new collection.

@henchman216:

Gotta save something for Day One DLC.

Avatar image for henchman216
Henchman216

@spooie: lol I wouldn't put it past Capcom for that....and if they do try that (or more likely they'll bundle them for Mega Man Legacy Collection 3) it'll be Megaman & Bass, Megaman Legends/Lengends 2, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Megaman Power Battle 1 & 2

Would be nice to have all the games together (especially considering they could fit every one of those games on 1 disc)

Avatar image for spooie

@henchman216:

If anything, I'm sure they'll do the MMX games next... or maybe just the SNES ones, then the 32bit ones. <_<

Capcom could, in theory, probably fit every MegaMan game ever released on one PS4 or Xbox One disc!

Avatar image for uncle5555

@henchman216: Exactly it's not as if the game isn't translated and ready to go with a little work ya know.

Lol, i had a megaman collection for PS2 that had megaman 1 to 8... so c'mon Crapcom!

Avatar image for kabloe

@everson_rm: If only everybody know that maybe those re-port of re-port of re-port will sell less and maybe, I said "MAYBE" Capcom will open their eyes and have a descent collection of megaman that contained more and more title each time unless of riping off some title to make more money later... they are very desperate... I think I smell something like the start of the end for another great game designers from past generation... SHAKE UP YOURSELF CAPCOM! MAKE US BELEIVE IN YOU ONCE AGAIN!

Avatar image for kabloe

@everson_rm: and to add to this, they should release a remake version of the PS2 Port of Megaman Collection and Megaman X Collection, it will make more sense than those stupids releases....

Avatar image for Barighm

Er...no remastering? Did they at least account for the input lag? Tried playing the PS2 collection on my LED tv a couple years back and it was unplayable.

@Barighm: Not to hate or something, but imput lag is probably from your tv set... i have the ps2 version (still have a 29" crt tv hooked) and it plays great.
