The VR action game will arrive before the end of 2020.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, the first new game in the series since 2012's Medal of Honor: Warfighter, has a release date. The VR title from Respawn (Titanfall 2, Apex Legends) will release on December 11 through the Oculus Store and Steam.

The game, which features both a single-player campaign and multiplayer modes, will feature stories from WWII veterans and survivors about their experiences, which will also influence the game's levels. The whole game will be set during the second World War, marking a return after the PS3/Xbox 360 reboot transplanted the series into the modern day.

Work on the game began four years ago, and involved a lot of travel to research the areas depicted in the game, as well as interviews with veterans. The game is touted as featuring a "movie's worth of narrative performance" in a press release sent to GameSpot, with 120 pages of scripted narrative captured.

Not much has been revealed about the game's multiplayer as of yet, but EA has promised that more details will come to light closer to release.

For now, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is a PC exclusive, with no PSVR version announced. You can see more of the game in the video above.

Not interested in VR.

It's a shame they couldn't have a made a proper Medal of Honor game instead of this.
