MDK Destined for Saturday Morning

Shiny's action game gets immortalized as a cartoon.

Vancouver-based Mainframe Entertainment, Inc. today announced that it has signed an agreement with Playmates Interactive Entertainment and Shiny Entertainment to produce and distribute an animated series based on its game MDK.

The series is expected to go into worldwide distribution in the fall of 1998 and will follow much the same plot as the game: a young hero and his dog trek around a futuristic Earth, battling evil robots.

For those who follow cartoons and Saturday morning programming, Mainframe Entertainment's other projects will be recognizable. Its first series was the highly acclaimed ReBoot (now in its third season), and it makes the popular cartoon Beast Wars - Transformers. The company is also producing two IMAX films for worldwide distribution.

This is the second cartoon to be produced based on a Shiny Entertainment title; the first was Earthworm Jim.
