Creeping savings.

The Microsoft Store has kicked off its weekly sale on Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. And in the spirit of the impending holiday, lots of the discounts are on games that are spooky, dark, or outright horror-themed. Let's dive in and see what kind of deals are available between now and October 29.

Starting with games that are only slightly spooky, you can pick up the excellent Metroid-like platformer Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition for $11. It won't give you nightmares, but the bug world it's set in is bleak enough for Halloween. Similarly, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, which draws more than a little inspiration from Castlevania 3, is on sale for $12.

Moving on up the scare chart, we come to Prey ($15), a game that's set on a space station teeming with aliens that can make themselves look like inanimate objects--meaning they could be anywhere. Alien: Isolation - The Collection, which hardly lets you feel comfortable at all, is on sale for $12. For $20 you can pick up Resident Evil 7, a game that's both over-the-top and highly effective in its scares.

If you're not looking for scares, you have other options as well. Perhaps you're curious about Fortnite's PvE Save the World mode and don't want to wait for it to go free-to-play next year. If so, you can grab Fortnite - Standard Founder's Pack on sale for $20, down from $40. While the gaming world is abuzz with the Fallout 76 beta, you can pick up Fallout 4 for $15. Or, if you'd rather sail through an open world and plunder treasure, you can grab Sea of Thieves for $39.

You'll find more of our picks below, or you can check out the full sale here.
