Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered Spotted At Retailer For PS4, Xbox One, Switch

A remaster of the first three Mass Effect games was spotted online, and includes versions on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Shortly after this listing was spotted, the page appears to have been removed from the retailer's website. The game was not included in a recent partner showcase from Nintendo. This could mean it's a little while before we hear about the game, should it be real. We will update as we learn more information.

We've heard rumors of a Mass Effect trilogy package coming to consoles for a while now, and it looks like it could be more than just a rumor. A Portuguese game retailer has listed the Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered for all current-gen consoles, but Electronic Arts has not announced the games officially.

The website Gaming Replay has listings available for the Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Curiously, the Switch version is listed for slightly less than the other two, which usually isn't the case for releases like this. It lists an October release window, which would be unusually quick for a game that hasn't been announced yet.

The box art for the games doesn't look final, and the logo was actually already used back when the three games came to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Originally, the series was only on Xbox 360, but it made its way to other platforms as EA purchased BioWare in 2007. If It does return in the future, the games will presumably be developed for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. BioWare said it is not done with the series, with a new game reportedly in very early stages of development at its Edmonton studio.

Noticeably absent from the collection is Mass Effect: Andromeda, which wasn't well-received when it launched back in 2017. The game takes place long after the events of the first three games and stars a new protagonist, but its poor reception sent BioWare's series into a hiatus. We still know next to nothing about Dragon Age 4, as well, despite some concept art being revealed a few weeks ago.

MassEffect 1 needs more then a upscale.

It needs movement & combat upgrades..

*Why don't they just redo ME1 from Andersons POV like a remix of the same game.

*No way Greedy,,evil,,moneyHungry EA would waste MassEffect to just a remaster..

They would do it one game a time and market tf outta it....

Andromeda was crap and it needs to stay gone. regardless if 1% liked it.

I saw this headline on the GameFAQs front page and nearly fainted. Was hoping EA finally announced it.

A beautiful trilogy, i really enjoyed it. I kinda wished they extended it to maybe 1 or 2 more games. The characters, story and theme where really well done. As i already have the game on PC and PS3, i will give this one a pass if its true. But to those who don't own it on PC or either console, i'd highly recommend it.

You know, coming from Gears of War 1-3, I was pretty underwhelmed with the combat in Mass effect 2 and 3 (didn't play 1) to the point that I stopped playing them after a while. I know Gears is an action game and ME is a RPG, but man that first impression was rough.

@cboye18: Coming from the best TPS franchise of the era would do that. But, yes, it's an unfair comparison. They're very different games.

If they retcon that terrible ending from the 3rd game, I'll cop. If not, then I'll be satisfied with the PC versions that I already completed.

ME3 ending was 8 years ago, everyone has moved on from that and I do not see Bioware ever retcon it much less really care about it. The ending extended DLC is all we'll ever gonna get and that's totally fine by me, the extended ending did fix the game to say the least.

@davillain-: Not sure how an unsatisfying ending being 8 years means its somehow fixed or no longer an issue. It just means that there's an unsatisfying ending that's now 8 years old.

And the extended cut was mediocre. Still frame photos that quickly tried to explain the plot holes left behind in the original ending somehow is the ending fans wanted? Maybe you are satisfied with it, but I don't imagine most people were. And the sales of Andromeda reflect that people no longer care about the Mass Effect games as much if so little care is put into its narrative.

Mass Effect Trilogy remasters theory of leaks has been discuss for years with no end of the tunnel and I'll believe it when I hear it from EA themselves.

Even if this is true, I own Mass Effect Trilogy games on PC and they are more than enough for me as far as high quality goes, but I will say that the first Mass Effect game needs a huge upgrade cause the combat is beyond outdated and Mass Effect 2/3 combat still holds well today's standard. (But not for much longer)

If they did all three games at once, this will not a be true remaster, it'll just be a "rescaled edition"

I have a feeling this is just the same old games, marketed in a locally made single box.

I'd love to be wrong, but...

@EvilTyger: It's EA. And they will probably be glitchy as hell. And never get fixed. And I'll bet they will eschew ME3's multiplayer and replace it with Andromeda's.

@Barighm: I honestly think they should redo Andromeda completely. It was rushed by a new studio that had zero experience making games and EA wanted it out before anthem. Andromeda also got a better score than anthem XD

@agentred: Hey, I liked Andromeda. I don't care that the story was corny. I care many of the graphics were glitchy and only about half of them were fixed. That actually affected gameplay whereas the story was...well, standard sci-fi fare, so I don't care.

I would love to see a remaster, as ME1 and ME2 are unplayable for me (graphics-wise, I can't stomach the old graphics, not technically unplayable). I did play some of ME3 years ago and started MEA but lost interest.

Much like the Master Chief Collection for Halo, these types of remasters allow gamers who didn't play the games back in the day (or that did and want to relive it) to play the games on modern systems at modern resolutions.

@bookfan8780: The PC texture mods do major justice to the games and they're a lot easier and simpler to install now

@bookfan8780:

(Shrug)

ME1 needs a full rebuild, but 2 still looks fine and is quite playable to me.

Then again, I've been gaming since Radio Shack pong and, compared to that, even ME1 looks fantastic.

But they're not going to remake any of them.

@bookfan8780: A remaster won't fix the graphics for you though. It will most likely just be a resolution and fps bump. What you want/need is a remake.
