Mass Effect Trilogy Art Book Discounted At Amazon Ahead Of Release Next Month

The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy: Expanded Edition releases next month ahead of Mass Effect: Legendary edition.

16 Comments

When BioWare and Dark Horse revealed an expanded edition of The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy, it only further fueled the rumors that a remastered collection was on the horizon. As it turns out, there is a good reason why this art book is being re-released on February 23. During last fall's N7 Day celebration, BioWare revealed Mass Effect Legendary edition, a remastered version of the original trilogy for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. While we don't know an exact release date for the collection, it's slated for this spring. In the meantime, you can preorder The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy at a discount ahead of its publication date next month.

According to the listing, the book will have a bunch of new concept art, particularly for each game's DLC. It will also feature new commentary from developers. All told, The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy: Expanded Edition appears to have roughly 90 pages of new content, some of which has never been seen before.

The original book it expands upon was actually titled The Art of the Mass Effect Universe and released back in 2012, though finding a physical edition is costly nowadays. So for big Mass Effect fans who missed out the first time around, now's your chance to lock in your pre-order ahead of its release.

Concept art from games that are now about a decade old. Very nice. I guess these artbooks must be quite profitable if EA Or Bioware spends their time on them instead of on new ME games. And especially after they've purposely killed off the franchise by handing it to a completely inexperienced studio. Why do they still keep it alive after that? Are we to expect another garbage sequel at some point in the future?

Will the book come in three different color variants but otherwise be exactly the same?

Hopefully they'll "remaster" ME3's Ending while they're at it.

Seriously EA, just replace the stupid Extended Cut Ending with a new one which makes the Destroy Ending/Indoctrination Theory canon, then get to work on Mass Effect 4 and reuse elements of the scrapped Dark Energy plotline.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype: Not a fan of there being a canon ending to a series like Mass Effect. Mass Effect 4 already essentially exists with Andromeda. If you're talking about continuing Shepard's story, it would be impossible. Shepard dies in all but one ending, and his/her story is intertwined with the Reapers. A game with Shepard but without Reapers would be odd.

@_Shuyin_: Yeah, the LAST thing BioWare should do with Mass Effect is try to tell another story in the Milky Way. It'd either have to be a prequel that ultimately wont matter, or a sequel that tries to reconcile three very different endings and wouldn't be able to top the stakes in the original trilogy.

About the one good thing I'll say for Andromeda is that BioWare figured out a good way to reopen the Mass Effect book.

No remaster! Make a game set 10-20 years after ME3 so we can see what happened afterwards. Heck I'll even take Andromeda 2. Don't waste time remastering games which still look and play great.

A remaster of the trilogy could be good. I hope it is done properly though. If they are going to do it they need to update the romance scenes to include voices for those cheesy music only caress scenes, and maybe tweak the other romance scenes as well. The perfect remaster would have all of the content included for free.

@tiller720:

My bet is that it's announced officially November, 7 for a March '21 release.

@promeym: I really, really hope they don't wait that long. The rumors started months ago and I've been dying ever since.
