Mass Effect 2 Overlord DLC landing June 15

Fifth batch of downloadable content for BioWare's latest arrives next week on Xbox Live along with Mercenaries 2 and Lego Batman on Games on Demand, and hefty marketplace discounts.

Xbox 360 gamers looking to get more out of BioWare's critically adored Mass Effect 2 can download the game's latest mission content next week, as well as enjoy significant discounts on more than 20 Live Arcade games. Also hitting the store are two Games on Demand titles, as well as another batch of Avatar wear.

First revealed in mid-May, Mass Effect 2's Overlord add-on content will arrive on the marketplace June 15 for 560 Microsoft points or $7. The content adds five planets to the galaxy, each of which is explorable using the Hammerhead tank, a vehicle first introduced in the game's Firewalker pack. The add-on will, according to BioWare, improve on the Mako driving missions of the first Mass Effect game, a sore spot for some users.

For the thrifty gamer, Microsoft is enacting its second blowout sale next week, slashing the price of games anywhere from 33 to 53 percent. The on-sale items and their new prices are listed below and are effective June 16-22. In addition, next week's Deal of the Week includes price reductions on Shadow Complex, Trials HD, Splosion Man, and others. That sale begins Monday, June 14, and titles affected are denoted with *.

The Games on Demand library grows next week with the addition of two 2008 releases. Microsoft has confirmed that Lego Batman: The Video Game and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will arrive June 15, but did not specify a price point for either.

Avatar Marketplace items arriving next week include Adidas' Soccer Shop collection and Mass Effect 2 tie-ins. The items were not specified, but with the World Cup kicking off June 11, and Adidas one of the tournament's sponsors, it's likely the soccer attire will be in some way related.

Another ME2 DLC? Keep them coming! =)

Avatar image for Icehearted

@LYTEK They also said they had several DLC packs planned for the first game. I'd be careful about getting those hopes up.

Avatar image for LYTEK

Was kind of hoping for some ACTUAL gameplay for the new DLC...when are the content releases that progress the storyline coming out? (They said that ME3 is set a bit after the end of ME2, and they also said that they'd do some DLC to bridge the gap).

Avatar image for gandalf_storm

some of those games are still over-priced, especially braid and banjo tooie, 400 points max now

Avatar image for detectivepbert

I guess these expansions make sense since the marginal cost of developing and producing DLC is minimal compared to the fixed cost of the original game. After finishing a great game like ME2 though I'd just as soon move on to other games and then come back to the series when the next full title in the series is released.

Until yall complain about COD:MW 2 map packs being $15 each, shut up about $7 for ME 2 , when we have gotten plenty of content for free.

More hovertank levels? Pass.

I still haven't played the recent purchasable add-on, though maybe when this next one comes out I'll download both so I have access to both of the DLC in one playthrough

I wouldn't decide already on whether its worth getting, wait and see what people have to say about it first, if its not that great you still have ME2 to play with. To me the DLC sounds good, i missed the exploring with the mako, but the mako and environments were a little naff... maybe this is their chance to have another go at it and if we like it, it will probably end up in mass effect 3... tbh im slightly happy with the free extras i have from the VIP because it means i have an excuse to go back to ME2... and with games like bad company 2, where we were given no new content, just unlocks on your disc under VIP, be thankful that BioWare are nice enough to care

a nice new asari would be nice ;)

people people why are you complaining about pitching out 7 dollars for dlc about mass effect 2. don't you realize that it may only be about two hours of add-on. but it took months to create new landscapes, paying actors for their voice that that brings the story that much more closer to life. there is a lot of work put into these games for them to just give it away for free. i mean some of the free content should have been charged in the first place like zaeed or the hover tank.

I love me some Mass Effect, mmmm mmmm! But, and this is a big ol' but, why would I pay more than 1/10th the cost of the game for a lot less than 1/10th the amount of game content? Pete5506 hit it on the head. I don't see myself paying $7 for mute with one mission, a gun I don't need, and a suit I need even less. Cash grabs and tack-ons aside, at least some of the games listed are finally being more reasonably priced. Castlevania is a steal at $10, so now at $5 I think you're cheating yourself if you've never played it. Some of these other games are a joke. Still on the fence about Briad at $10, but some of these I got even cheaper as a Deal of the Week, like Shadow Complex for $5.

I loved ME2, but I stopped downloading the DLC when I started paying for it

vaejas currently has some conflicting pricing on Braid, so expect some clarity from the Major soon. The catalog page shows 1200, but the Arcade Hits page shows 800. Likely it will be less than 800 when on sale.

Too bad I already own a lot of these games :) Might finally buy Castlevania Symphony of the Night and maybe Vandal Hearts (Kind of looks like Final Fantasy). I will eventually get the Overlord download but not now that these games are getting discounts. It's about damn time Microsoft gave discounts on a bunch of games instead of one every week.

Avatar image for DrunkenGoon

Damn.. Looks like I'm going to be picking up quite a few XBLA titles with this sale.. A bunch I've been meaning to buy but decided to wait til they go on sale..

Avatar image for deactivated-5cd05fa50bb7d

what Bioware really should of done is just release one big expansion pack for ME2 (like they did w/ Dragon Age) (not saying that DA expansion was good or not, never played it).

Avatar image for deactivated-5cd05fa50bb7d

@Frankvincent no they weren't. but me being the huge mass effect fan I bought them. sure i enjoyed to some extent but overall not worth it.

i hate my life

Avatar image for thaflu

Can't wait for the deals on the Arcade games.

Avatar image for Frankvincent

Question: are the other mass effect 2 DLC good? this one seems pretty solid, 5 new plants and such.. i just can't picture getting a new companion being worth buying... so just wondering what you guys think? but this DLC sounds sweet tho

Avatar image for bassplayer275

Nice. Keep the ME2 dlc coming.

Avatar image for Torque203

@sonynhater ive been doing the same, its an amazing idea.

Avatar image for sonynhater

I'm going to wait until they are done adding all this DLC to play them all at once

Avatar image for chrispicard

Amazing game! well worth a play through. Not paying for RIP-OFF "table scrap" DLC tho!

Avatar image for -HCMF-

Avatar image for gc88

Avatar image for muppen

Avatar image for Dynamo11

Epic, glad ME2 is getting more DLC than ME1
