Capcom has announced Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite. The game made its official debut during Sony's press conference at PlayStation Experience 2016. As previous reports suggested, the latest entry in the all-star fighting game will arrive in 2017.

The trailer shown at the event opened with Mega Man and Ryu partnering up to face off against Iron Man. The two fire projectiles together, as Ryu runs in while charging himself up. Both Mega Man and Ryu grab the Infinity Stones out of the air.

The trailer continues with Captain Marvel appearing to join Iron Man's side. Previous reports suggested that this new Marvel Vs. Capcom would draw heavily from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and won't feature the X-Men. This is yet to be confirmed, but Captain Marvel is one of the characters set to have her own movie in the future.

The video ends by confirming Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The first gameplay will be shown during the Capcom Cup.

"For the last two decades, Marvel Vs. Capcom has been one of the most celebrated franchises among fans," said Marvel Entertainment's executive producer Mike Jones. "To deliver on that legacy, we've worked closely with Capcom to create a game that honors the heritage of the series and combines Marvel's unique brand of storytelling with Capcom's world-class gameplay. We’re raising the bar with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and are excited for players to get their hands on it next year."

"It was deeply inspiring for our development team to join forces again with Marvel and we can't wait for our fans to experience the benefits of that collaboration first hand," added Michael Evans, director of production for Capcom USA. "With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, our goal is to provide memorable experiences and infinite gameplay possibilities for players of all skill levels."

Capcom has also released an overview of the game's features, revealing the new game is 2v2 instead of the traditional 3v3 format.
