Marvel has released the first image of its upcoming series Echo, slated for release on Disney+ sometime in 2023. A picture tweeted by the comics giant shows Alaqua Cox as in the title role.

Cox originated the role in last year's Hawkeye series. In a release, Marvel shares that production is now underway in Atlanta for the spin-off--first announced last year--and joining Cox in the cast are Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, The English), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon, Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs, American Gods) and Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!, Four Sheets to the Wind), Graham Greene (1883, Goliath) and Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, Reservation Dogs).

According to Marvel, "the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward."

Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin (Blackfeet).

On Tuesday, Marvel also released the first trailer for the upcoming She-Hulk series. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is slated to debut on Disney+ on August 17.

Elsewhere among the MCU's TV series, Ms. Marvel will start June 8 on Disney+.
