Mark Hamill On Whether Or Not He'd Return To Star Wars

The Luke Skywalker actor is probably done.

Mark Hamill, who famously plays Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movie series, has commented on whether or not he could come back to play the character yet again. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hamill said fans should not count on it.

There are a series of new Star Wars movies in the works, but Luke Skywalker is dead and Hamill doesn't think he's coming back. "No, I don't have any expectations of that happening," he said.

Luke Skywalker dies in 2017's The Last Jedi, but in the Star Wars universe, Jedi can live on as Force ghosts. Luke appeared in The Rise of Skywalker in this manner. Anything is possible in Hollywood, but it sure sounds like Hamill is done.

Hamill went on to say that when he first read the script for The Last Jedi, he "knew it was over." He said, "The whole thing was emotional. I was relishing every moment, but also saying goodbye to all those people that I had associated with over the years. So I still miss them."

While Hamill might not be coming back anytime soon to the Star Wars universe, Rey actress Daisy Ridley will reprise her character in a new Star Wars movie from Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Other upcoming Star Wars films include movies from Dave Filoni, James Mangold, and Taika Waititi.

As for Hamill, he plays comedian Bert Kreischer's father in a wild movie out now called The Machine about an encounter with the Russian mob.
