Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Switch Bundle Confirmed, Is Exclusive To Russia

Nintendo has "no plans" to launch the console bundle anywhere outside of Russia.

[UPDATE] A Nintendo spokesperson confirmed that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle is real, though it will only be available in Russia.

"The bundle is exclusive to Russia and there are no plans to bring it to other countries at this time," the representative said.

The original story is below.

The Nintendo Switch launched in March without any bundles that came with a system and a game. That's going to change soon, it seems. Nintendo's Russian site has apparently leaked the existence of a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle that comes with a console and a copy of the updated racing game.

This was spotted by Reddit user Lord_Daenar (via DualShockers). The art for the supposed bundle has raised some eyebrows, considering its box shows a Switch with grey Joy-Cons on the front and neon controllers on the side. GameSpot has contacted Nintendo in an attempt to get more details.

The Russian store page says the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will cost 24,999 RUB, which comes out to around $440 USD. Bear in mind that this bundle is only rumored for now, and if it is real, it could be limited to a particular region. We'll report back with more details as they're made available.

Given that Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's biggest, most recognizable brands, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Nintendo put it into a bundle to help sell Nintendo Switch units. The were Mario Kart bundles for the Wii and Wii U as well, featuring the games Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches on April 28 for Nintendo Switch. A re-release of Mario Kart 8, the game has more characters, carts, and tracks unlocked from the beginning than any other Mario Kart game ever. If you want to download it to your console, it will take up 6.75 GB, apparently.
