Majesco places bet with Golden Nugget

Publisher inks deal with Las Vegas casino for branded games on consoles, handhelds, and mobiles.

Majesco hit the jackpot today when it confirmed a licensing agreement with the Las Vegas casino Golden Nugget. Two Golden Nugget-licensed products have already shipped to retail: Golden Nugget Casino for Majesco's self-contained plug-and-play TV Arcade line and a release for the Game Boy Advance. The GBA release allows low rollers to play blackjack, roulette, slots, and other games, while the TV Arcade product offers several varieties of video poker and slot games. Both retail for $19.99.

The licensing deal grants Majesco the right to brand upcoming casino games with the Golden Nugget name. The deal is good for current and upcoming gaming platforms, including wireless and plug-and-play devices.

This appears to be another move on the Golden Nugget's part to reestablish itself as a "hip" casino. Mired in the "classic" downtown setting of The Fremont Experience in Las Vegas, the Golden Nugget's new owners also allowed the casino to be the subject of a Fox reality show appropriately titled The Casino, which follows the day-to-day activities of the gambling establishment.
