Maid Of Sker Debut Trailer Shows How The Game Brings Horrifying Welsh Folktales To Life
The publishers of SIMULACRA try their hand again at horror but with a Welsh bent, announcing Maid of Sker.
If you fancy yourself a fan of horror, then Wales Interactive's Maid of Sker should be on your watchlist. This first-person fright is due out in July 2020, and puts players in the driver's seat of a terrifying Welsh folktale.
Maid of Sker draws inspiration from classic horror flicks and situates you in a remote, run-down hotel with a checkered past. By 'checkered past,' we mean a history of murder, torture, and a healthy dose of the supernatural.
Based on the real-life location of Sker House, and on the Welsh legend of Elisabeth Williams (who reportedly died in captivity in the house), the game will force players to deal with all manner of specters to find out the truth. Wales Interactive, the developer behind the game, is experienced with horror titles and perhaps most well-known for its FMV game SIMULACRA.
The game is set in 1898, which means that players won't have access to any newfangled weapons to deal with the horrors that they encounter. It's all about stealth and keeping quiet in this survival horror game; bumping into objects or breathing too loudly will ensure that you're found by enemies. Maid of Sker will also have a suite of difficulty options that will change your ability to defend yourself as you explore the haunted mansion in search of answers.
Maid of Sker will be coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in July 2020, so you won't have to wait for very long. It's also due to come to Switch at a later date. Meanwhile, we have a list of recently announced titles that are currently available to play if you're needing a way to pass the time.
