Mafia II will be packing heat at retail when it ships for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 24. Beyond its standard edition, 2K Games said today that the game will also be packing a Collector's Edition that features both physical and digital enhancements to the 2K Czech-developed crime noir action adventure.

The Mafia II Collector's Edition will carry a $79.99 price tag on the Xbox 360 and PS3, while the PC version clocks in at $69.99, a $20 premium over the standard edition. The extra cheddar affords gamers a free copy of the Made Man downloadable content pack, which includes two vehicles and a pair of suits. As for out-of-the-game fare, the Collector's Edition includes a 100-page hardcover art book, a Mafia II orchestral soundtrack, and a detailed map of Empire Bay.

The contents come wrapped up in a metallic blue SteelBook casing that features a debossed logo and art of Mafia II leads Vito and Joe. A first-generation Italian-American, Vito enters the criminal underworld in an effort to escape the immigrants' plight in the 1940s and '50s. To do so, he joins with his scrappy cohort Joe, and the two set out on a path toward becoming made men.

Beyond the Collector's Edition, 2K Games also announced a number of downloadable packs that are exclusive to individual retailers as preorder incentives. Those who preorder Mafia II at GameStop gain access to the Vegas and War Hero Packs, each of which include two cars and two suits appropriate to the DLC's titles. The Renegade Pack is available to Amazon preorderers and includes a sports coupe, '50s hot rod, and a pair of suits. At Best Buy, gamers can gain access to the Greaser Pack, which also includes a pair of cars and two suits.

Gamers who prefer a bit of cash back can preorder Mafia II at Wal-Mart.com. There, gamers will receive a $10 Wal-Mart e-gift card, which can be used for purchases on the megaretailer's online store.
