Madden 08 drafts song list

EA's annual footballer to feature pop, rock, hip-hop soundtrack from Ozzy, Bravery, Sum 41, Timbaland, more.

Spanning 11 platforms and hitting more than 7.1 million users as of last March, EA's Madden 07 garnered a substantial amount of playtime for the up-and-coming artists who landed a slot on its soundtrack. EA released the details on its Madden NFL 08 soundtrack this week, and as in past years, the collection includes a variety of established pop, rock, and hip-hop artists, as well as a few newcomers.

Headlining the show are platinum-record-selling artists such as The Bravery, Swizz Beats, Sum 41, Timbaland featuring Justin Timberlake, The Hives, and Yellowcard. Airbourne, Datarock, Operator, and Enter Shikari will make their big-time debut, hoping to seed an ascent to superstardom. Lending a track to the proceedings for the first time will also be rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, with "I Don't Wanna Stop."

Arriving this August, Madden NFL 08 will be available on the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Wii, PC, PlayStation Portable, mobile handsets, and Mac.

WOOT WOOT!! They got some good metal songs on there!! That is awesome!

One thing I like about threads like these is to read about the musical tastes of people. Some of you have varying degrees of standards in your rock 'n roll.

Avatar image for rikhan_z

Yellowcard is always in the list in most of EA games... that's no surprise

Avatar image for air_wolf_cubed

no offspring? dont care then

jeulz_santana wow the only decent rap song is by flippin swiss beatz this soundtrack suks wheres ti, ludacris, weezy baby, jay z, rick ross they all had big albums and yet not one song ea said in an interview that they like to have newer artists, and they don't wnat to put hit songs on the radio in the game. you see, theyre tryin to help artists who haven't made it yet. so don't expect big names ever on a madden game unless you do it urself.

Avatar image for metallimoose

Terrible, just terrible. The remixed NFL Films themes from 2006 were easily superior to this 'music.'

Since when is the word HELL in HELLYEAH censored? Shocking.

I'm sorry but if it's on all of these new game systems...why don't they just let US play our own music....Besides, this list looks like it's full of CRAP anyway. Wait why am I saying anything, I don't even like football anyway!?! :P I'd still wish they'd put more money into the NFL aspect of it since they OWN it. For some people, they like a similar experience every year. I wouldn't want the same thing over and over again. Besides, football would be a lot cooler if you could throw grenades and make crators in the playing field. Tackle the audience members...every one of them. And throw the ball so fast (like in a special or something) that you put holes in people when it FLIES THROUGH THEM! I'd play that game!!!! XD!!!!!

The game should be about football, and making it better and better. Who cares about the music? Most of us turn it off - how about using the cash you wasted on the music to hire the people who made the 2k series so great? Madden has always been hallowed as the best football game there is, but to tell the truth it has been in a lull. EA released a separate football manager game last year - instead of including it as part of the Madden game - a sure miss - that game sucked, but as an added feature to an ageing decrepit franchise, it might be a nice feature - of and the whole all pro football approach to the game - HELLO, why didn't EA think of this first? Oh how about this - here is some advise for you, a suggestion if you will, why not make the hands down be all end all game - include everything, and everyone who has ever played the game, and each year just make a "downloadable roster / tweak update" - do this every other year, sell it for like 20-25 bucks, save some development cost, still make all the profit and more, and take your time to churn out a "new" version of the game every other year. This way you still horde all the cash, and we don't feel like you are robbing us. Are the same people behind the PS3 running EA? ARGH! Don

I love most of the music in the madden games actually. It introduces me to a whole bunch more bands.

Avatar image for crunchb3rry

I don't see the point of wasting development dollars on licensed music. After around 5-10 hours of gameplay, most people just disable all the music. The Fight Night Round 3 soundtrack drove me crazy, especially that stupid ring intro song. Although I do think it's a good avenue for bands to get heard. Franchises like Burnout actually got me buying songs off iTunes.

Avatar image for fernieg

YAY ENTER SHIKARI BEST BAND EVER!!! But i was shocked to see them since they arent that famous in the u.s

Avatar image for gnbfd

Holy SH*T! Timbaland, Yellowcard, MIMS, and Ozzy all on one soundtrack. This better be one hell of a football game though

Avatar image for jimboboklashaur

it's loads better than last years.

good soundtrack

Avatar image for dudeski89

Sweet, Brother Ali's on this, he ain't crap, he's actually an amazing artist. But other than him and Murs... I don't know.

Avatar image for DrKill09

Madden should just have custom made instamental music in the menues, like the good ol Genesis ones. Football does not need crappy music!

Avatar image for Corpse_Vanishes

cool, more crappy music

exodusNJ - agreed =D i love rise against now

gamespot is always late, this list was out 3 days ago on another site.

Avatar image for jab692

Joshua250, you're complaining about complaining about complaining. But you're right, I just though it was kinda funny.

Avatar image for Joshua250

To everyone asking why people are complaining about the music: Um, people are complaining about the music because this is a news article about the music in the game. At least our complaining matches the article, you guys are complaining about us complaining. xP

Avatar image for Vyse_Legends

Exactly littletotheleft your playing a sports game. I never knew music was such a selling point for a game. You know what I could do I could put it on mute and listen to the radio if I dont have a 360. And most of this is crap so I think that may have turned some people away. Luckily I never really played Madden.

Avatar image for ExodusNJ

I don't know much of it, but other games have had songs I never heard of and ended up loving. Like Rise Against "Give it All" in Need for Speed. Or Snoops remix of Riders on the storm.

Avatar image for redtide666

No Emperor? I dont F***in' care.

Avatar image for sectorzero

Custom soundtracks are my savior. These things just seem to get worse and worse every year.

Avatar image for ArkansasBoy91

Ea suredoes love the Hives.. i do too :D

Avatar image for byronman91

Eww, the Used..... All-Pro Football here I come!

Avatar image for oo769er

Shock! People hate the selection. Let snobbery reign. I can just hear some guy trying to come off as intelligent saying this in a nerdy voice "blablabla this garbage is poisoning my ears yet I can't even play a single cord my guitar so I'm just gonna play it safe and say I worship Ozzy Osbourne so I sound like I know what I'm talking about."

Avatar image for joeyfine

thank god for custom sound tracks!

Avatar image for kkfury

there is not enough rap... too much rock! boo rock music!

Avatar image for Keving7

rap sucks @$$ now adays, get that bs off. get less whiny bs too well on the bright side its better than last years barf fest

Avatar image for Zazalon

No-one can compare compare to the Burnout Revenge soundtrack. That is, without a question, the best soundtrack there is. 2nd best Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, but waaaaay too many covers.

Avatar image for IStoleUrSokz

This list is actually way better than other years, i mean, Enter Shikari, The Used, QOFSA, From autumn to Ashes, Atreyu, Yellowcard, thats a pretty good amount of stuff that many people need to be exposed to, they are all awesome.

Avatar image for CLeRKSfan4life

Apart from Queens Of The Stone Age and Ozzy Osbourne that list looks pretty crap. Oh well

Avatar image for littletotheleft

they only released this list now to suck away some of the buzz about all pro 2k8. who cares about the music? never knew it was a big deal to anyone. on most sports games i just turn off the music and either play it with only the in game sound effects or custom soundtrack...thank you 360. plus, this only shows how bad popular music has gotten. justin timberlake?? really?? on a football game?? isnt that crap for love making?

Avatar image for hughes1234

cool- queens of the stone age - 3s & 7s

Avatar image for Trindris

Hmm Hellyeah is alright, and Ozzy is great, other than that this list blows. The list could be fixed if they added more metal, metal heals all wounds.

Avatar image for coldkill19

Terrible, just COMPLETE GARBAGE, where's the trivium?

Avatar image for Ccrow21

This soundtrack fails. Big time.

Avatar image for DonutTrooper

Now even the 360 users have to feel a little sorry for the PS3 users. Not trying to start a console war in a Madden news report, but because everyone is (understandably) complaining about this soundtrack, it shows why the 360's custom in-game soundtrack was a VERY useful tool, especially in this type of EAmergency.

Avatar image for sirus1210

"Jamesp2005 Wow, I didn't realise so many people chose a game to buy solely on the music that plays at the opening and on loading screens. I always liked to pick my game based on, oh I don't know, game play." it's such a good point ... it's so hard not to repost it lol good one and so true

Avatar image for hammer_of_thor_

Great! Thankfully I have a mute button on my TV remote, and my own CDs. I'd rather not poison my ears.

Avatar image for Beesters

Why cant they just let us import our own music, so they can save their time and money on other things, like improve gameplay.....???????

Avatar image for donjuan2222

"Once Again not enough rap and too much rock. It really sucks that they can't just do half rap and half rock." "Too much Rap and not enough Rock. I wish we could play our own playlist like the old xbox days." well which one is it

Avatar image for Woodchuck

I'm happy about Pharoahe Monch, Zion I, and Murs. I'm sure I'll be able to stand everything, with the exception of the awful Mims and Daddy Yankee.
