Madame Web's Memed Line Isn't Even In The Movie

Bad news, web-heads.

Movies being edited and changed from the first trailer to the final screening is nothing new. We've seen it played out countless times, especially in big franchise movies like Star Wars and Avengers and looks like Madame Web is now among that list.

When the first trailer dropped back in November, there was a line about Cassie's (Dakota Johnson) mom and her connection to the mysterious not-Spider-Man that's out to killer and her friends. "He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died." The delivery and line became an instant meme--a personal favorite of mine was one using Ben Kenobi.

As the reviews started coming out today ahead of the movie's release this week, it's been noted that the line has been removed from the final cut.

If there's one thing the Sonyverse for Spider-Man movies has been famously (infamously?) known for, it has the unintentional ability to become instantly meme-able. From the Morbin' Time movement to "like a turd in the wind", the mom in the Amazon was prime material for shitposts to flood social media. Alas. At least we had the trailer.

You can check out GameSpot's review of Madame Web here and see it starting February 14.
