Mad Max-Style Post-Apocalyptic Vehicular Combat PC MMO Revealed
"Craft. Ride. Destroy."
Russian developers Gaijin Entertainment (War Thunder) and Targem Games (Planets Under Attack) on Wednesday announced a new post-apocalyptic vehicular combat PC MMO called Crossout.
The game, which is currently in pre-alpha, takes place in a world ravaged by an alien invasion, while human genetic testing has gone all wrong.
Car customization will be a major part of Crossout, as Gaijin claims no two cars will be the same. Players can build whatever they want--from zippy buggies to heavier off-road vehicles. Players can accumulate new parts and pieces, either through gameplay or by purchase (there are "thousands of possibilities," Gaijin says), and each affects the vehicle's overall performance.
Players will be able to tailor their car's shape, armor, weapons, support systems, and cosmetics in a virtual garage. The game also has an in-game auction system, though further details were not specified. Some of the weapons players can attach to their cars include chainsaws, power drills, machine guns, and rocket launchers. Anyone else feeling a Mad Max vibe?
Crossout, a free-to-play game, will debut at E3 this summer, while a beta will also be held. To apply for a spot, you can sign up at the game's website. For a closer look at Crossout, check out some images in the gallery below.
