Eidos and Dolby Laboratories announced today that all of Eidos' future releases will include Dolby multichannel audio. The first game to use the technology will be Eidos' Mad Dash Racing for the Xbox. Mad Dash Racing will employ Dolby's Interactive Content Encoder, which will allow for an in-game Dolby Digital 5.1 signal. The inclusion is the result of Dolby's virtual incubator program, which provides support to developers of video games.

"Eidos has a great commitment to giving gamers the highest quality gaming experience, which is why we will be incorporating Dolby multichannel audio technology into all of our games," said Chip Blundell, marketing director for Eidos Interactive. "A whole new genre of game content for Eidos, Mad Dash Racing is a unique blend of high-speed combat racing, 3D adventure action, and multiplayer competition. This game's design, enveloping 3D interactive game sound and music by popular electronic artists, combined with Dolby Digital technology, provides an unforgettably cinematic interactive experience. We plan to release all our Xbox titles with Dolby Digital 5.1."

Mad Dash Racing's soundtrack will include tracks from electronic music producers such as Moby, Fatboy Slim, Uberzone, and more. Eidos' Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2 will also make use of Dolby multichannel sound.
