Mac Quake Demo Arrives
Macintosh gamers finally receive a first glimpse at the Mac version of id Software's masterpiece.
If you're a Mac gamer waiting for Quake to arrive, then you should head out to your local Comp USA as soon as possible.
Comp USA recently received a demo version of Quake, which includes a US$10 discount coupon for the full version when it hits store shelves next week. The demo includes four levels, but unfortunately does not allow multiplayer deathmatching.
Due to the fact that many computer store employees know very little or nothing about Mac games, it may take a little bit of convincing on your part to make sure they actually have the demo in stock. This reporter had to track down a store manager just to get confirmation that the store had copies of it in stock. The demo is free, so don't be caught paying for it, like some customers who have paid dearly.
The Mac Quake Limited Demo is under the SKU# (169885) - that information may be helpful if store employees swear that they've never received any demos.
The full version of Mac Quake should hit stores next week, and a free demo should be available for download from MacSoft either this weekend or Monday. The demo CD is not the official demo of the game, and actually has a few bugs.
