Netflix has announced that the second half of Lucifer Season 5 will finally be premiering on May 28. The long-awaited date was revealed on Twitter, and the announcement also came with news reported by EW that production on the show's sixth and final season is coming to a close as of this writing.

According to a release just before Season 5 kicked off in August, it was announced that the upcoming season all the way through will see "secrets… revealed, beloved characters [dying], and we'll finally get an answer to the question 'will they or won't they?'" Tom Ellis, who plays titular character Lucifer Morningstar, recently told EW that these still upcoming episodes "takes [the character] back to a very primal place, and his feelings are very raw… I'm just so happy and so proud of what we've done. The first two episodes of the second half of Season 5 are my two favorite episodes of the season, without a doubt." So, that's definitely going to be something to look forward to.

Showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modovich also teased at DC FanDome in September that one of the episodes ahead this season will be a highly anticipated musical episode, which will be very "funny, but there's also a lot of emotion… there's a great range of feelings that are expressed."

Lucifer stars Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, and many more. It was developed for TV by Tom Kapinos, perhaps best known for his Showtime series Californication.
