Look at This 30-Foot Pokemon Card Mosaic

The Pokemon Company continues to celebrate the Pokemon franchise's 20th anniversary, today unveiling an epic Pokemon Trading Card mosaic. Revealed in Paris, the mosaic of a Pokemon card is made up of 12,987 individual cards and is 10 meters tall and 7 meters wide. It measures 71.54 square meters overall.

The mosaic forms the image of the iconic Pokemon Pikachu, who is shown here in the famous pose originally drawn by Game Freak illustrator Ken Sugimori. You can check out some images of the mosaic in the gallery below.

The Pokemon Company worked with British artist Quentin Devine for the card, which the company claims is the "world's largest trading card mosaic." We're not exactly sure which mosaic was the record-holder before this.

"We are incredibly excited to have secured this highly ambitious world record, and are thrilled to have worked with renowned artist Quentin Devine to bring the mosaic to life," The Pokemon Company marketing director Anthony Cornish said in a statement.

Some of Devine's previous work has included a massive mosaic for the Mona Lisa made out of self-portraits from fans and a cool image of the Queen using penny coins. This Pokemon mosaic is his biggest piece yet.

"Pokemon asked me if I could beat the current Trading card mosaic World Record and I knew I could," Devine said in a statement on his website. "So off I went to start planning another huge piece, which proved an amazing experience."

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series. Nintendo has already celebrated with a Super Bowl 50 commercial and an afternoon soiree with Drew Barrymore. We can't wait to see what comes next.

The next mainline Pokemon games are Pokemon Sun and Moon, which are due to launch for 3DS this holiday season.
