Little Big Planet 2 beta announced
Sampler for Media Molecule's PlayStation 3-exclusive imaginative sequel confirmed; recruitment details coming "soon."
The original Little Big Planet and its cast of Sackboys and Sackgirls was a runaway hit for Sony and developer Media Molecule. The 2008 title sold more than 3 million units, spawned a game-of-the-year edition and a PSP iteration, and currently has a sequel, Little Big Planet 2, planned for November 16. However, excited gamers wishing to get their hands on the sequel won't have to wait that long.
A Media Molecule staffer, Spaff, writing on the LittleBigWorkshop forums, today confirmed that Little Big Planet 2 will have a beta, and more details on the sampler are coming soon.
“We will have some more news on how we will recruit for this beta soon,” he said on the forums, “but in the meantime I wanted to drop in and say that you will all be in with a chance to get in.”
When PlayStation Plus--Sony's paid online service--launched in June, it promised subscribers access to exclusive betas. The service and Little Big Planet aren't strangers, as United Kingdom PS Plus subscribers received free downloadable copies of the original Little Big Planet upon registration. While unconfirmed, it's possible Little Big Planet 2's forthcoming trial will be a PlayStation Plus-exclusive.
