Beat Sports is a new collection of rhythm-based sports mini-games for Apple TV; it includes versions of tennis, volleyball, golf, and other sports. It was one of the featured games during Apple's announcement of the device's latest iteration last month, and will be available alongside its launch later this month.

Matsuura is something of a legend in the rhythm game space, being the creator (and composer) of PaRappa. He also worked on other early, influential rhythm games like UmJammer Lammy and Vib-Ribbon--the latter of which made its much-heralded debut in North America last year, 15 years after its original release.

Beat Sports marks the first time Matsuura has worked with Harmonix, which has long been synonymous with rhythm games. In a statement shared with GameSpot, the studio's co-founder, Alex Rigopulos, said, "Matsuura-san is one of the true pioneers of the music game genre, and his work has been hugely inspirational to me and others at Harmonix from our early days. We've wanted to work with him for a very long time so we're thrilled to be able to include some of his wonderful music in Beat Sports."

You can listen to both of the Matsuura-composed songs appearing in Beat Sports below.
