LEGO Star Wars Movie Adds To Cast, Releases New Poster, And Will Hopefully Be Better Than The Original

The LEGO follow-up to the infamous 1978 Holiday Special is coming to Disney+ in November.

On November 17, 1978, Star Wars released a Holiday Special on CBS, which was absolutely terrible. The special featured the talents of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Anthony Daniels. It also introduced the world to Boba Fett. However, it was and is unwatchable--it only aired the one time on television and has never been officially released to the public--but it exists on YouTube. Now, LEGO is teaming up with Star Wars for a new Holiday Special, and some favorites from the movies have been announced as part of the cast.

Debuting on the Disney+ streaming service on November 17, the new special will be a bit more comedic and feature a lot more characters from the Star Wars Universe--as the franchise has grown immensely since Star Wars debuted 43 years ago. Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actors Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalkers), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Dee Bradley Baker (clone troopers), will all be appearing in the special.

In addition, a new poster was revealed for the show, featuring a severed hand, the perfect gift for Darth Vader to give to his son, Luke Skywalker.

The upcoming special once again revolves around Life Day, the Wookie holiday. "The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special reunites Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewie, Rose, and the droids for a joyous feast on Life Day," reads the synopsis. "Rey sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan. and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?"

The special is directed by Ken Cunningham (LEGO Jurassic World) and written by David Shayne (LEGO Jurassic World).
