The 3DO Company today announced that Legends of Might and Magic has shipped to stores. The game was developed by New World Computing, the developer that created the previous Might and Magic games. It features team-based first-person action set in the medieval fantasy world featured in the previous games in the Might and Magic series. Players assume the role of one of six characters with different weapons and abilities, and they can participate in four types of online multiplayer games: slay the dragon, rescue the princess, sword in the stone, and escort the warlord. The game supports up to 16 players per server, and many of the scenarios feature additional computer-controlled monsters that will attack characters from both teams.

"Over the years of developing Might and Magic games, it's always been a dream of mine to develop a multiplayer action game set in this universe, " said Jon Van Caneghem, president and founder of New World Computing. "With the Legends of Might and Magic game comes the realization of this dream. I hope that action gamers and Might and Magic fans have as much fun playing the game as we did making and testing it."

Legends of Might and Magic will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $39.95. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game and download the playable demo linked below. We will post a full review of the game soon.
