Legend of Mystical Ninja Shots and Video

Welcome to Konami's world of floating dog heads and mechanical fish.

A 64-bit take on Konami's popular Japanese video game series (which saw only a single US translation), Ganbare Goemon 5 was recently released in Japan for the Nintendo 64. The title is a Super Mario 64-style 3-D adventure game that takes a true-to-life Japanese warlord from the 1500s and puts him in a cartoonish world chock-full of floating dog heads, mechanical fish, and the like.

Unlike Epoch's straight-out Super Mario 64-clone Doraemon (which was fortunately only released in Japan), the game seems to have a considerable amount of original gameplay on its own, away from the SM64 mold.

Here's a quick screenshot and video look at the title, which will be brought out in the US under the title Mystical Ninja 64, likely early next year.

Expect a full review of the game on the site soon.
