Left Field Productions has announced that it has bought out Nintendo's investment stake in the company. Nintendo purchased a stake in Left Field five years ago, when the studio became a dedicated second-party developer. Left Field produced the NBA Courtside series for the Nintendo 64 and GameCube, as well as Excitebike 64.

"We've had a very good relationship with Nintendo over the years, and we've learned a lot from working with them," said Mike Lamb, president of Left Field. "However, since we have not been developing games directly for them since the start of the year, both sides decided it made sense to reverse the investment. We wish them every success for the future and will continue to support Nintendo's hardware."
