Left 4 Dead 2 Is Free To Play This Weekend To Celebrate Huge New Update
The new community-made expansion for Left 4 Dead 2 adds a new campaign and multiplayer maps.
Valve's co-op zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2 has received a new piece of free DLC on PC. Titled The Last Stand, it introduces tons of additions like survival maps, an expanded campaign, new and reworked animations, and more. To celebrate the arrival of The Last Stand, Valve is hosting a free weekend for Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam. If you want to keep playing after the free weekend, Left 4 Dead 2 is on sale for only $2 through September 28.
The Last Stand is Left 4 Dead 2's first new piece of content since 2012's Cold Stream. And like that update, The Last Stand is a Valve-approved community creation built by over 30 members working with the Half-Life: Alyx developer for more than 11 months. The result is an update that contains tons of new features, bug adjustments and fixes, and additional achievements, among other things.
The new update also includes two brand-new mutations, adds voice lines not used in the base game, extra melee weapons like shovels and pitchforks, and implements PvP fixes and enhancements. Check out the official launch trailer above.
The Last Stand might sound familiar to hardcore Left 4 Dead fans. It was a campaign exclusive to Survival mode tasking players with surviving an endless horde for as long as possible while stranded on a remote cliff-top called The Lighthouse.
