Lawsuit Clock Ticking for Origin and EA

Ultima Online's gang of two now has 30 days to respond to the much-discussed gamer lawsuit. The players' attorney plans his next move.

GameSpot News learned Wednesday that the court document first filed last March 3 and amended April 15, 1998, on behalf of 15 Ultima Online gamers suing Origin and Electronic Arts, has been officially presented to both companies.

According to George Schultz, attorney for the plaintiffs, the documents were served on Electronic Arts on April 27 in San Mateo, Calif., and on Origin Systems in Austin, Texas, this past April 28.

The two companies have 30 days from the date of service to respond to the court. Schultz need wait only 20 days from the date of service before he can request to see pertinent documents and interview individuals to secure additional information.

In a conversation with GameSpot News, Schultz said he would pursue his clients' interests aggressively.
