Now Playing: Quick Look: Horizon: Zero Dawn

In case you haven't noticed, the PlayStation Store's latest sale has been ongoing for a couple of weeks, and it's a big one. Hundreds of games for PS4, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, and PS VR are marked down, and it's all part of The Great Indoors Sale--a.k.a. more reasons to not leave the house during these early spring days when the weather still feels like winter. And these game discounts will be even greater if you're a PS Plus member. However, time is running out--the following game deals will disappear this Friday, March 29 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET.

There are almost too many great games included here to name--but here are the highlights. You can get the complete edition of Horizon Zero Dawn for only $17, along with its amazing DLC, The Frozen Wilds, for $8. Bloodborne's DLC, The Old Hunters, is another worthwhile puchase at just $15. Red Dead Redemption is marked down to just $12.89, while Red Dead Redemption 2's special edition is $60. Borderlands 2 is down to just $5, The Last Guardian is selling for $14, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight is $42, and The Witcher 3's complete edition is only $20. The list goes on and on. And if you're on a budget, there's even a handy section for all the cheapest deals--most of them are under $10.

i guess i glossed over this when this article was released earlier this month, so Red Dead Redemption ( the original ) is $13 but only for play on the PS3? i am not sure about others... i don't have my PS3 hooked up anymore. so if i wanted to play Red Dead after completing RDR2 i would need my PS3? that doesn't make sense if you are offering "LAST CHANCE FOR HUNDREDS OF PS4 GAME DEALS" isn't that misleading that it's NOT actual PS4 games ? unless i have this all wrong?

With these two incredible games on sale, I would like to push anyone towards : The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn

Both games are just amazing and probably will be on the list of the greatest games of the 8th gen, easily. Horizon, you may be able to find used physical or digital code base game for even cheaper then above, as you do not need the complete expanded version since the base is perfect on its own. It is so hardcore LOTR, GoT epic beauty of strength/ action/rpg, its brutal-ness is a work of art, yet still grounds its self in story, story, story.

The Last Guardian might not be for everyone, but it is one of the best games 8th gen and can only be compared to games that came before it like, ICO and SotC. When i first played through it, I found the only complaint was the interaction between trico and you, but when I played through it the second time - with out giving to much away- the interactions between the played and pet was not supposed to be perfect, it was designed to be more realistic actions of trying to herd cats or get any pet to do what you want. That made the game so much better, just knowing why trico can sometimes be stubborn made our interactions so much sweeter. And at $14 this game is a steal. Though if you can find a physical copy, it will not only hold its value longer it will be worth alot more later on.

And what ever way you can find Dragon quest 11, Kotaku review here, and love RPGs then get it. Easily the best game of its kind of not just an rpg but of any genre. See the video review and I dare you not to run out and buy it. If you have some quiet time, these are three amazing games to play.

I bought a PS4 Pro a week ago (I just needed to get it off the back of my mind despite everything that tells me I shouldn't have gotten one), and I've been enjoying the higher resolution and quieter system for games immensely. It makes games even more immersive and more enjoyable in my opinion. So, a game I've been thinking about since but am not really sure whether I should get is Detroit: Become Human. Currently, I'm playing The Division 2 on the Xbox One X so it doesn't really matter right now, but at some point maybe. I may have gotten it if it was on this sale.

@NTM23: I would pass on Detroit. The first scenario you play in the game, and the demo, is good, but the game takes a sharp decline afterwards. It's really very boring.

If you REALLY like Quantic Dreams games, then you may like it. But if you're not into that type of interactive story telling, then I would say pass. I couldn't even finish it and it's not even a long game. The 3rd character is the worst, yet has more play time than the others.

8 dollars for Frozen Wilds? More like 20 Euros in Polish store (especially when I paid for the stand-alone HZD 25 Euros (physical edition)).

And the one's I want (e.g. Marvel's Spider-Man) are not even on sale, and in retail stores are cheaper (67.00 EUR for the main game, when it's a digital version? Give me a fucking brake). The same with Detroit: Become Human. I can find cheaper retail physical copies then digital ones they are offering.

Avatar image for jumalan75

@gns: that sucks... there’s literally no reason digital should ever be more than physical... I thought the whole point was to save on manufacturing, shipping costs, benefit the consumer and environment. One day!

Avatar image for Vodoo
Vodoo

@jumalan75: Yeah, but then they would really hammer the brick and mortar stores. That's why they charge the higher, or equal, prices even though the digital is much cheaper for them.

They should make digital cheaper after 6 months or a year of a game being out though. There's no reason to sell a 2 year old game for full price.

As always the games I want are not in this promo... thank time that next month golden week sale will kick off, my money will go to Sony there.

I don't like to get into the arguments between the factions, but as an owner of both, PS sales blow Xbox sales away. Steam still does it better than both, but PS sales continue to get better.

On that note, if you haven't played the Witcher 3 yet (who the hell hasn't?), pick it up now. It is a masterpiece. Witcher 2 was a good game, but honestly even if you didn't like it, Witcher 3 is amazing. It will change your life in ways that Lionhead studios used to promise it would.

PS: Your character has a beard that grows. A BEARD THAT GROWS.

@Schizycho: TW3's combat is too clunky and awkward to be a masterpiece, but it is a very good RPG.

And newer games discounted on Steam are no better discounted there than anywhere else. People are just fooled by the large number of ancient games being sold for peanuts. Ancient games on XBL and PSN are also heavily discounted, there just aren't as many of them.

Avatar image for Skinon

@Barighm: You need to give it a chance... Once it 'clicks' it amazingly deep and tactical combat. I was the the same! Gave up because of the combat. Read a few tutorials and got some encouragement, went back into it... One of the best games I've ever experienced. Period.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition...still waiting for it to drop further. I might pick it up when it hits $12.

@jsprunk: Thanks for going the extra mile to support the devs. Not that I do that blindly myself. I first have to make sure it's a good product before I pay for it. In this instance it seems to be but it's waiting in the backlog alas so I can't confirm at the moment.

@jsprunk: Horizon was probably one of the best games I've played this generation. It's well worth that price with the significant dlc included. I would really reconsider because it's an excellent game.

I bought it a year after release because I didn't think I'd like it. After I got it, I couldn't put it down.

Avatar image for vamplife

@jsprunk: It's not going to get that low man at this moment just buy the game don't be cheap. I paid $36 on sale not including the dlc. It's a masterpiece by that time ps5 will be out.

Avatar image for Barighm

@vamplife: Actually, there is a good chance it will be free. PS4 exclusives always seem to be a PS+ game eventually.

Avatar image for Vodoo

@Barighm: Probably not with the dlc though. They usually just give the stock game so you'd have to buy the dlc.

Some links to supporting retailers are automatically made into affiliate links, and GameSpot may receive a small share of those sales.

@BridgeToClarity: Actually, I find discounts on PSN tend to be rarer and less significant than on other networks unless it's a universal publisher wide sale, in which case the discount is the same everywhere.

Has the last of us remastered ever gon on sale for lower than 10 bucks? I mean, I already paid the 60 for the game on the ps3, but I do wanna play the remastered version and something is stopping me from spending the 20 even though it's a drop in the bucket

Avatar image for sickie

@jbreez00: I recently replayed the remastered and still loved it a second time through. When you haven't played it in a couple years it was nice to play parts that I had forgotten about

Avatar image for neurogia

LOL, after looking through all 389 games on sale, only about 15-20 of them are actually good value.

Avatar image for Barighm

@neurogia: Newer games generally don't sell below $20 unless they flopped really hard.

FINALLY! I've been waiting for Spiderman's City That Never Sleeps to go on sale for the longest time. The game has been at $40 for a while, but the dlc was still $25. So I finally just bought it, and being a Plus member, I got a few more bucks off.

Figures... they put it on sale right before Sekiro, if it's any good, and Days Gone.

I've actually been playing the free Plus game this month, called Rogue Aces. It's actually a pretty good, old school type of tough flying game. Being it's an indie game, I've been talking with the dev on Reddit because he wanted feedback on how to make the game more accessible to players and things that weren't communicated well. Really nice dude that responds to all feedback.

Avatar image for ChrisAnetkaC

@Vodoo: Thanks for a positive note on Rogue Aces. That nice looking little green airplane had me intrigued for a while. I'd like to check it out. Going by the few pictures I've seen of the gameplay it looks a little like "Heavy Weapon" for the previous gen.

Avatar image for Vodoo
Vodoo

@ChrisAnetkaC: Very similar, yes, but from a plane perspective. The difference is that the enemy planes don't just fly past and you can fly forward and backwards and your plane turns so it's not just flying straight and you move it up and down. You have full control. One of the upgrades is actually tighter turning ability.

They'll constantly fly around until you destroy them and then another 2 will take off from a base. You can take over these bases, so you start further ahead, and push the enemy planes back to the next base. The further along you get, the more enemy planes will take off. It starts with 2, but the furthest I've been there were 6.

There's also ground vehicles... Tanks, anti-air battery trucks, and infantry, that patrol back and forth on an area. There's battleships to sink, blimps at high altitudes, attack boats, ect... It's a cool game.

I loved Heavy Weapon also. But this game gives you 3 lives and it's a continuous map where you have to keep taking bases to get to the end and every time you complete an objective, you have to go back to any base to get your next mission objectives. There's no "levels" where the play stops. So if you don't make it to the end of the map in 3 lives, then Game Over and you start from the beginning. I've only made it 60% of the way.

Avatar image for ChrisAnetkaC
ChrisAnetkaC

@Vodoo: Thank you for the details. I also liked Heavy Weapon and want to check this one out soon. The only problem is the 3 lives, sounds old school arcade style. It may get frustrating after a while but it if the gameplay is fair then that should be ok.

Was hoping for a Dark Souls Remastered sale before Sekiro. Poop. Also, I know I own too many great games this generation when sales continually roll around and are populated by games I already purchased.

Avatar image for Vodoo
Vodoo

@srfilk86: I ran into that problem last gen because I would buy games when they launched. But now, I find that games drop by $20 usually within 2-3 months (on average) on a sale. I got Detroit for $48 when it was a WEEK old from Newegg, though I still consider it a wasted $48, lol.

It's all about being just a little patient. You probably have other games to go through first and when the sale hits you snatch em up.

Avatar image for srfilk86
srfilk86

@Vodoo: Yeah, I buy in sales 90% of the time. It's just that I buy loads of games when they're in sales and run out of new games to play. I buy around 3 new games per year.

Avatar image for neurogia

Damn it... the headline had me stoked, but I already have all of these across various platforms (except the Middle Earth and Overcooked/annoyance trash sequels).

Need a good indie sale... clearly the good stuff will be found online rather than here.
