With versions of Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia, Resident Evil, and WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008 all headed for the Wii, it seems major publishers have few reservations about overhauling established franchises to take advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller. Add one more to the list of familiar faces getting "Wii vamped" for Nintendo's new console, as Eidos today announced that its upcoming PC, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable game Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary will also be coming to the Wii.

The publisher promised to let gamers take control of its mascot heroine in "brand-new, unique ways" with the Wii controller, but didn't go into specifics. A release window for the Wii edition of the game will be announced later. As for the other versions, Eidos last month pegged a June 5 North American launch for the PC and PS2 versions, and the PSP edition is expected to follow soon thereafter.
