Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics on Monday announced the next Lara Croft game, a free-to-play endless runner for mobile devices. The game--called Lara Croft Relic Run--has soft-launched in The Netherlands, and is due out this year across the rest of the world "in the coming months" for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

Developing Relic Run is Simutronics, a mobile game veteran behind titles like Tiny Heroes and One Epic Knight. The game is an endless runner in the vein of Temple Run, but Crystal Dynamics says in a blog post that it's "much more than that" by way of its unique gameplay elements.

"Relic Run offers a massive amount of diversity in play, allowing for seamless transitions between acrobatic-inspired running, combat, vehicles, and epic boss fights, including but not limited to the return of the infamous T-Rex," the developer explained.

You can see some Relic Run screenshots in the gallery below.

Meanwhile, the next entry in the core Tomb Raider series is this fall's Rise of the Tomb Raider for Xbox One. The game is a sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot, which has now sold 8.5 million copies, making it the best-selling entry in the action-adventure series of all time.
