Lance Reddick (Resident Evil, The Wire) and Toby Stephens (Lost in Space, Black Sails) have joined Disney+'s series adaptation of the popular Percy Jackson books. Variety was first to report.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians novels "tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus." Reddick will reportedly guest star as Zeus, while Stephens will play Poseidon.

In 2020, author Rick Riordan announced that he was working to help develop the series, with Steinberg (Black Sails) co-writing the pilot and James Bobin (The Mysterious Benedict Society) directing. Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) will play the young demigod Percy, Aryan Simhadri (Cheaper by the Dozen) will play Grover, and Leah Sava Jeffries (Beast) plays Annabeth.

Also rounding out the cast are Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally and Timm Sharp as well as Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Charlie Bushnell, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Timothy Omundsen, and Jay Duplass.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is scheduled to premiere in 2024, with the first season consisting of eight episodes.

In December, it was announced that Reddick is set to reprise his role of Charon in the John Wick franchise for the Ana de Armas-led spinoff, Ballerina. In Ballerina, de Armas stars as a young assassin seeking revenge against those who killed her family. John Wick 4 is coming March 2023.
