Konami ships quartet
New Froggers and Dance Dance Revolution arrive on consoles; Lost in Blue debuts on DS.
Even for the biggest of publishers and even during the busiest time of year, one company shipping four new releases on a single day is not a common occurrence. But Konami's kicking off its holiday season a bit early by sending four new games to retail today: Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2 for the PlayStation 2, Lost in Blue for the Nintendo DS, Frogger Helmet Chaos for the PSP and DS, and Frogger: Ancient Shadow for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube.
DDR Extreme 2 brings the series online on the PS2 for the first time, adding it to the EyeToy support found in the first DDR Extreme. The new soundtrack features more than 70 songs from acts like The Chemical Brothers, Sean Paul, Sneaker Pimps, and Fatboy Slim, as well as new tracks from Streets of Rage composer Yuzo Koshiro. DDR Extreme 2 is rated E for Everyone and retails for $39.99, or $59.99 bundled with the dance mat peripheral required to play the game.
Konami mascot Frogger continues his adventures beyond the pond with Helmet Chaos and Ancient Shadow. Helmet Chaos combines 3D graphics with 2D gameplay and wireless multiplayer support, as the company mascot protects his native swamp from an evil force. Over on the home consoles, the green one goes fully 3D for traditional platforming action for up to four players. As a cross-platform bonus, Ancient Shadow players can earn passwords that will unlock bonus content in Helmet Chaos. Frogger Helmet Chaos and Ancient Shadow are both rated E for Everyone, and both retail for $29.99.
Finally, Konami offers the survival role-playing game Lost in Blue for the DS. Players take control of a young man washed up on the shore of a deserted island after an incident at sea. To escape the island, players will have to learn survival skills, like hunting for food and building tools, all while exploring the island's mysteries. Lost in Blue is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, and it retails for $29.99.
