Konami has announced a new compilation pack series that bundles together a number of "iconic arcade games and classic console titles" into one package on modern systems. The Konami Anniversary Collection series, as it's called, is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The first in the series is the Konami Anniversary Arcade Classics, which launches on April 20, as a digital-only title for $20 USD. The package comes with the following games:

  • Haunted Castle
  • A-Jax
  • Nemesis
  • Vulcan Venture
  • Life Force
  • Thunder Cross
  • Scramble
  • TwinBee

In addition to the games, the package includes an ebook that contains extras like interviews with developers, sketches, and design documents that have reportedly never been seen by the public before.

Following that will be the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Contra Anniversary Collection, both of which are due out in Summer 2019. The Castlevania bundle comes with Castlevania, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, and Super Castlevania IV, along with four other titles and an ebook to be revealed later.

The Contra package will include Contra, Super Contra, Super C, Contra III: The Alien Wars, and at least four games to be revealed later, along with a bonus ebook.

2019 is Konami's 50th anniversary.

Way to pricey IMO for 8 retro games. Atari released a collection for the switch for $39 and it had 150 games on it!!! This will end up $60 for 24 games, I'll wait till they're on sale thanks.

The castlevania collection will probably be the only time I'll be giving konami my money. It's been many years since, learn from capcom how to make a comeback.

Avatar image for bouchart

Maybe some day Konami will start making non-pachinko machine games again. A man can dream.

Avatar image for lonesamurai00

I only care that these are coming to the PC since they have never been on the platform before - officially that is.

Avatar image for warmblur

Just play these games on a emulator and F u ck Konami.

Contra collection is awesome.

Hell any collection with Alien Wars is awesome by default.

If we get a physical version of these compilations, I am in.

Headline: Get all the details here.

Article: The Castlevania pack will have four more games but we have no idea what they are.

Easy on the click bait there, GameSpot.

Konami: "Hey want to remember the times when we made games?"

Avatar image for shadowwarrior4

isnt super contra and super c the same game why does it list them like it its two different ones

also heres hoping the unmentioned games are contra 4 and contra hardcore and maybe contra alien wars ex

Avatar image for BMWPro77

@shadowwarrior4: Super Contra was the Arcade original and Super C was the sequel to the NES port. They differ in spite of the name similarity. Here's a more detailed explanation of the differences: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Contra

Why no love for OG NES Contra?

Avatar image for shadowwarrior4

@BigPrimeNumbers: isnt that the one coming in the kollection i mean konami owns this ip right

Avatar image for BMWPro77

@shadowwarrior4: It is. The original arcade version is included in the Arcade Classics collection.

Avatar image for shadowwarrior4

the contra one should be called

@shadowwarrior4: KKK for short?

Avatar image for shadowwarrior4

@thomaswmak: yes exactly

Avatar image for Archangel3371

Nice. The Arcade Collection is just ok but the Castlevania and Contra Collections are the ones I really want.

Avatar image for Hagan

I might end up grabbing the Castlevania collection. I'd also like to see MGS1 on steam. Make it happen.

Avatar image for R4gn4r0k

Konami releasing games lmao, what a world we live in!

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@R4gn4r0k: They're not making any games, so why not just rehash ones they already made?

Avatar image for thomaswmak

@R4gn4r0k: re-releasing.

Digital only.... BOOOOOOOOO

Give us a Physical version of these. That would be absolutely great!

Avatar image for uninspiredcup

Make a quick buck', double the Switch price.

Avatar image for valgaav_219

Pass. I'll take the Castlevania Collection, though

Avatar image for fulcrvm

Just give me my damn Curse of Darkness/Lament of innocence for the switch pls

Wishful thinking I know

Avatar image for freedom01

I would be very happy if Konami brought Ganbare Goemon Collection

Avatar image for Sorrow_316

I wouldn’t mind seeing a metal gear ultimate collection, with the MSX games, The PSP titles, MGS1-2-3-4 and maybe even 5, and heck even toss in the couple spinoffs like Ac!d. Give me that on the PS4/Switch/Xbox1

Avatar image for Archangel2222

@Sorrow_316: same here, dont forget the awesome gbc game too. I wish they made a part 2 of that game on the 3ds :(

Avatar image for fulcrvm

@Sorrow_316: I would buy each and every one of those MGS games that get ported to the switch but I guess Konami is allergic to my money

Avatar image for Lamesy

Do we have to focus on CV 1-4 again? Great games (3 is one of the best NES games periodt), but they've been released over and over again while the DS Castlevanias had ONE release ever in history, and only two for the GBA games (and with rerelease being Wii U, barely counts market-wise)

Avatar image for BMWPro77

@Lamesy: The Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge was from The Gameboy. I am surprised the NES Castlevania 2 was not included.

Avatar image for climhazard5

Would really like to have seen shattered soldier on the contra pack.. :(

Avatar image for LesserAngel

@climhazard5: They still have 4 games to reveal for both the Castlevania Collection and the Contra Collection, so it might be included.

Avatar image for csward

I'm almost surprised they didn't release a bunch of themed Pachinko machines.

Avatar image for Elranzer

ROM packs. But, I encourage it. Nintendo does it and they make bank.

Funny, they sell Haunted Castle all by itself for nearly $10 on PS4 right now.

Avatar image for girlusocrazy

I need these. Twinbee, Life Force, and Nemesis? Yes please. I hope the Contra collection includes Operation C and Famicom Gryzor. I hope the Castlevania collection includes Famicom versions and Bloodlines. Belmont's Revenge? So I guess Gameboy games are definitely in? Simon's Quest as well I hope.

Avatar image for chisoxrule

I would like to see more of the Twinbee games released in the US.

Avatar image for srfilk86

Avatar image for Thanatos2k

@srfilk86: The Suikoden 1+2 two pack is what they need to release. With automatic save data transfer.

Avatar image for valgaav_219

@srfilk86: This

Digital-only? Not interested.

Avatar image for imajinn

How about SH 1 and 4?

Avatar image for sladakrobot

I asked Konami via Twitter few years ago if they will ever release Gradius games on the Xbox and they said nay.

Happy to see Gradius,Life Force amd Vulcan Venture coming but thats only games they emulated already few times!

Gradius 3,4,5? Other Salamander titles?

Missed oportunity,Konami!

Avatar image for Archangel2222

Ok so Im expecting a Metal gear bundle in 2020 got it Konami

Avatar image for LesserAngel

Nice, though the selection for the "Arcade Collection" could honestly be better.

It's almost all shmups, but they stop before Gradius III and Xexex? Hell, even Gyruss is excluded. Well at least they have Life Force/Salamander, so yay? Though I would've preferred the NES versions, because the arcade versions of Konami games are ungodly difficult.

Also, it's almost allshmups, Did they forget that Green Beret/Rush'n Attack was an arcade game? Where's Sunset Riders?

Anyways, if it's emulated well (I'd be surprised if they're actual ports), the $20 price tag might be acceptable for eight games + bonus material.

Avatar image for Barighm

Didn't know Konami rebooted Bomberman.

Avatar image for BMWPro77

@Barighm: Konami bought Hudson the original creators of it years ago. Konami owns all of their IP's including Bonk and Adventure Island.

Avatar image for Ippongi_Ryuta

What about collections for Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid? Oh... wait...
